Hawaii Collection – Oh my, Hawaii!

I've been blessed to have been to Hawaii four times in the last couple of years (and I am due for another trip). There is nothing quite like this island paradise. It is breath-taking, relaxing, fun, tasty. You can be adventurous as you want, explore the local cultures and foods, or do absolutely nothing and just enjoy the tropical breezes.

I know the East Coast has the Caribbean and I've been there enough times to know that Hawaii is very, very different. Which is why I wanted to catalog and share my posts about this very special place.

Hawaii

Also known as the Big Island, it is the biggest of the Hawaiian islands. The ecosystems are so varied it's amazing, from lush green pastures where cattle graze to craggy volcanic rocks to black sand beaches and amazing snorkeling!

Maui

It's all about the beaches in Maui, 30 miles of beaches to be exact. It's also famous for the Road to Hana drive and Hawaii's highest peak (volcanic Haleakala). But don't miss the waterfalls either!

Oahu is the third-largest island and home to the state capital, Honolulu. Iconic spots include Waikiki Beach, the North Shore, and Pearl Harbor. And great food festivals! I've been to 3 amazing events on the island: Corks & Forks, SPAMJam, and the Hawai'i Food and Wine Festival.

Kauai is my favorite! All different kinds of terrain, climates, food, and more. Try the zip line based in Koloa. They take you up into the mountain and you get a lot of great exercise, wonderful views, and an amazing zip line or should I say lines ride. The last ride is about a half-mile long going down to a small pond and landing. It was a blast!

  2. What an awesome resource! The SpamJam and Food/Wine fest would be awesome to attend.
I love Hawaii. I’ve been to Oahu 3 times and am going again this winter. There’s nothing like basking in the Hawaiian sunshine in the middle of a cold Canadian winter.
This time I’ll be doing a Molokai day trip.

  3. We spent a week or so in Hawaii one time on a trip from Australia to the USA and had such an amazing time. Your photos really took me back to that trip. Looks as though you had an amazing time!

I have not yet been to Hawaii though I hope to change that in the near future. One of my aunts that went said simply that pictures do not do it justice. She said it is way more beautiful in person than she could have imagined. Thank you for all of your wonderful posts about your travels. I go there virtually through you.

  5. I have never been to Hawaii, but I definitely want to visit one day! My mom lived in Hawaii when she was my age. She says it’s beautiful there!

  6. I would LOVE to visit Hawaii! I’m hoping to eventually travel there. Pearl Harbor is on my bucket list, as I love WWII history. Would love to visit the different islands and take in some of the island cuisines. Such a beautiful place, a place I’ve only seen on television (my wife and I watch Hawaii 5-0) and in pictures. I’ll keep crossing my fingers to eventually visit this island paradise!

  7. I still haven’t been to Hawaii and it looks amazing. I want to take the road to Hana, see the volcano and waterfalls, and of course Pearl Harbor too!

  8. Katie @ A Full Plate says:

  9. Our neighbors go to Hawaii every couple of years and say how much they love it. In fact .. they’re even thinking of buying land and building a little house when the husband retires in a couple of years. I love all of the photos you shared. They’re as beautiful as postcards and make me feel like I’m right there with you. Passing your post along to them also .. I’m sure they will smile

  10. I like that you put all the information in a single jumping off point! I’ve never been to Hawaii but this is a really well rounded variety of info. Definitely helpful!

  11. My gosh, you’ve been everywhere around Hawaii. I used to spend a lot of time in Waikiki but haven’t been in ages. You’re inspiring me to get back to the islands to explore.
