Paris in HDR
After two days of non-stop activities including an evening tour at the Orsay, a baguette class at La Cuisine Paris, a treasure hunt in the Louvre which was followed by another adventure with Kasia's Mom at the Fragonard perfume museum, and drinks at Verjus with Lindsey, Daisy and Kasia (plus her mom and hubby) our third day in Paris was devoted to just taking in Paris with no agenda.
We were traveling with one of my husband's friends who had not been to Paris except for a very brief business trip, so we wanted to spend some time showing him the sights. The weather was cloudy and cool which made for incredible photos. Mr. Misadventures decided to play around with HDR and I think the results are pretty amazing.

We took the Batobus which is a boat service on the Seine River with 7 stops. Unlike most of the bateaux mouches, you can hop on and hop off. Here is a shot from the boat of one of the many beautiful bridges.
Approaching Notre Dame…
Later on land near the Louvre…
Wandering the streets
Wandering in the Marais. This is the Hôtel de Sully is a hôtel particulier, or private mansion open to the public.
After brief showers, we return to the Westin to dry off and were treated to this magnificent view.
When I looked at my pedometer at the end of the day it showed we had walked for twelve miles! It was a wonderful day with no plans that were simply filled with taking in Paris.
What about you? When you are traveling do you ever plan days with no plans at all?
And that’s why people in Europe can afford to eat the way they do – they walk! 🙂 Gorgeous pictures, as usual!
@Katie, precisely!
Great pictures – the clouds make Paris look even more dramatic and grand, if that’s possible!
@Laura, thank you! It was perfect for photos, not so perfect the moments they opened up and dumped buckets of water on us! Oh well!
Definitely. Love days like this with no plans. I find it can be hard to pull off with other people in tow, though… I’m happy to either go by myself or with other people who lead the way.
These photos are wonderful. Mister Mister definitely did an excellent job! They’re so moody.
Seeing a city from a boat is a great way to get an overview, I find… I did this in London with friends this past summer when we went to Greenwich. So fun!
@Colleen, we were definitely lucky that our guest had no “must do/must see” items, they just wanted to tag along and absorb, so it was perfect! I have not been on a boat in London, I definitely want to try that…although the French news has showed a few accidents lately!
gorgeous photos Andi! love the clouds and colors. I also love days where all that is on the agenda is wandering – especially in Paris! 🙂 for now I continue to live vicariously through you! keep the beautiful pics & stories coming 🙂
@Kate, hi! Thanks so much for your kind words. I love wandering around without a plan!
Gorgeous photos! I’m impressed. They are very beautiful.
@Michelle, thanks!
Beautiful photos Andi! I had no idea the Westin Vendôme had such fabulous views.
@Eurotrips, yes I have been in three different rooms there, GREAT views!
I am usually not big on HDR photos because they look to unreal to me, but these are just wonderful. Subdued yet gorgeous.
@Jenna, I am not big on it either, but thought these turned out well.
These photos are absolutely stunning!!!!! I can never believe how much I walk when I’m in BA!
@AndiP, thanks, walking is the best part, because then you get to eat more!
These photos are stunning, Andi! THe Mark III, huh? I did just as much walking in San Sebastian – my favorite part of vacation!
@Lindsey, Mark II for the hubby, I’ve got the III, these are his shots. Love the walking!
I just popped over to get a little time with Andi. I see on the sidebar you have a busy month of travel. I can’t believe you found the time to remember my birthday. I miss you, Andi!
