Project Discover Week #17
Last week when I wrote my week #16 Project Discover update, if you were sitting next to me and bet me $100 that I would see Baywatch on the big screen, I would have taken that bet.
And I would have lost…
It was warm over the weekend, and it was a holiday weekend, so to avoid the crowds who were out and about taking in the sun, we headed to the movie theater to see, you guessed it, Baywatch – and on a giant screen as well! What has my life come to! At least I didn't see Pirates of the Caribbean (even though I updated my 5 things Johnny Depp taught me about life post).
Call me lame, but I am SUPER excited to see Wonder Woman today! It's been a long time coming. I know everyone is sick of superhero movies, but I couldn't help looking forward to this one. Growing up, the women of Charlie's Angels, Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman were my heroes.
These women made me believe that I could do anything, that I could be the first woman President, that I was powerful.
I wasn't a fan of the Charlie's Angels movies with Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz, I'm hoping Wonder Woman doesn't disappoint!
I only lost 1 pound this week bringing me to an overall total of just over 17 pounds. A loss is a loss, but I was definitely enjoying the 2 pound a week trend. Since Friday we increased our daily walk by a mile in case we are hitting some kind of plateau there and will try to increase it by a mile every few days. In terms of eating, I did nothing different, but will, of course, continue to watch my calorie intake along with my carbs.
Remember that salmon chowder I said I was going to make last week? Well, I made it on Saturday and it was DELICIOUS! The cauliflower, chicken broth, and Neufchatel cheese base would be great for any number of soups and I am thinking of doing a low carb cream of broccoli next! I've also got a low carb chili recipe I found that I am going to modify into a Bolognese sauce with Miracle Noodles. As foodies, we've got to keep it interesting!
Also, I never reported about the bagels we got from the Great Low Carb Bread Company. We got them a few days before we went to Kauai. I toasted and prepared them but they did not turn out great, they sort of got really hard, so I shoved them in the freezer and forgot them. Well, I pulled some out this week and instead of toasting them I microwaved them for 15 seconds then added cream cheese and smoked salmon and it was magical. We've finished one bag and will dive into the second upon our return to San Francisco.
San Francisco next week! I am so looking forward to this trip, even if it is really brief – 3 days (of course even when you just have a weekend you can have an amazing time, particularly if you are a foodie). I will pack as much as I can in. I've got lots of folks that I am sharing coffee, lunch, and dinner with and a few events in between. It will be nice to be back!
Even though I will be on the road I still will be online and I have a full week of posts coming! A little bit of blog conference tips, a review of my monthly blogging goals, a guest post with photography tips and more so swing by every day!
Thanks to everyone who supported Misadventures with Andi this week including my guest poster Denise who wrote 5 Tips for Budget Travel in Mexico.
That’s been my week, what have you been up to?

Ummm, neufchatel base for soup sounds fucking delicious! How does that even work? Yuuum!
@Bildo, it was so crazy easy! For the base you cook cauliflower pieces in chicken broth and then gently melt a block of Neufchael cheese into it. Then take a hand blender and blend it all together – delish! I used this recipe to work from: http://www.food.com/recipe/low-carb-salmon-chowder-318091
I do so enjoy reading your blogs. As a longtime friend of your parents, I wish you had more time so I could meet up with you on your trip down here to San Francisco but I see you have three days of fun filled times, food, fun and friends on your schedule. If you come down in the future, I’d like to meet up with you and your husband and perhaps share some good stories along with some fabulous food. I, too in a way, am a foodie.

I saw Wonder Woman and it beats anything else out this Summer. She is my most favorite super hero!
@Laurie, It was AWESOME! Gal Gadot is absolutely perfect in the role.
My husband and I just saw Wonder Woman and IT WAS EPIC! All of a sudden, though, I need to visit a CrossFit gym and try Jessie Graff’s American Ninja exercises so that I can not feel bad about Robin Wright doing some truly epic aerial kung fu when she’s 51. And I’m with Etta, I need my tummy tucked in.
We were just talking about wonder woman Would my boys like it, they are 14, 12?
I think 17 pounds is awesome. I have found that whenever I am on a “diet” i have a week or two when it slows down, too. Keep up the good work.
Great round up! My week has consisted of still unpacking from our move and juggling our 9-month-old twins LOL I’d love the recipe for that Salmon Chowder, though! Sounds delish!
Weirdly enough, I didn’t grow up watching Wonder Woman. But I want to watch the movie anyway, the trailer looks awesome! Have fun in San Francisco, so many things to do 🙂
I moved my family to Arizona from Idaho. Boy was that a task!
I can’t wait to watch Wonder Woman in theater. Heard so many positive things about this movie. Thanks for sharing your week. Hope you have a great time in SF!
SO much fun to read your updates! I wish you much luck in San Fransisco, sounds like it will be a blast! Looking forward to your next update 🙂
The low carb version of the chowder sounds suoper good. I’m going to have to hijack the recipe and give it a try.
I’m looking forward to seeing Wonder Woman with my daughter. I heard it was excellent!
Sounds like a pretty full week. Nothing unusual here, blogging, walking and playing with the dog. A few DIY. 🙂
That salmon chowder sounds amazing – something I never would have thought to make but want to try now. Congrats on the weight loss too!!
Busy week for sure! I’m been busy working on some blog projects and looking for another income source.
Heard wonder woman did very well. Very deep thoughts in some of your blog posts, liking it!
