J’adore Jambu – Cool Shoes for Fall and Winter

TL;DR > Jambu & Co. has lots of cool shoes for fall and winter perfect for travel, whether near or far, a day trip or more, the comfort, and seasonal features (warmth, water-resistant, waterproof) are exactly what you need to keep your feet going all day!

We have seasons! Now that Mr. Misadventures and I are in North Carolina we get a real fall and a real winter. For the past 2 years, whenever I got the latest Jambu lookbook I drooled over all the fall boots that I could not have as they made absolutely no sense to wear in Phoenix! But y'all, now that I am on the East Coast I can have all the shoes!

I absolutely love all my sandals and outdoor shoes that I wear every single day, I was always missing the boots. I lived in boots of various shapes and sizes when I worked in San Francisco and I am glad that (a) I am living somewhere where cool shoes for fall and winter make sense and (b) Jambu has a great selection to choose from!

No matter what the season, the thing I love most about Jambu is their balance between being a comfortable outdoor show that still looks stylish. Mr. Misadventures and I spend a lot of time outside and I often never know if I am going to be on pavement all day, leaf-laden trails, sandy dunes, or quite frankly mud – it all depends on the photographic whims and winds of my hubby who has the single-minded determination and passion to do all 4 in one day.

And after 20 years together, I never trust the “we are just going out for a couple of hours” because more times than not, that means all day. I never worry while wearing Jambu because they have things like memory foam insoles which make my feet feel like they are floating on air, and many of the styles are American Podiatric Medical Association Accepted Shoes, meaning they have been found to promote good foot health too.

Of course, the non-slip All Terra traction rubber outsoles prevent me from most misadventures of the falling kind. Most. I am a lifelong klutz so there is only so much you can do!

My goal is life is very simple. Choose happiness. Minimize friction. That is a lifestyle that spans what I wear and what I put on my feet. I adore my Jambu. Proof, in the last 3 years it is very hard to find photos of me without a pair on my feet! I don't just wear them for these blog posts and then put them in the back of my closet.

I wear a pair of Jambu just about every single day and most especially when I am traveling.  And even though  I am sticking closer to home these days, they are still my go-to shoe.

So let's take a look at some of my fall favorites for cool (and comfortable) shoes and boots! As you may recall, at the beginning of October Mr. Misadventures and I headed up to a cabin in Black Mountain to get away and do some pre-leaf peeping scouting. It was a good opportunity to test out some of my new Jambu fall styles as well as some old favorites. The fun cabin and the Blue Ridge Parkway were the perfect backdrops for these beauties!

Jambu Blakely Encore

My favorite feature of this Jambu Blakely Encore? The faux fur lining! It is so soft and warm! I feel like I could walk for hours (and with Jambu, I know I can) because this slip-on makes me feel like I am walking on pillows! They are the perfect weekend and travel shoes which dress up my usual jeans. My wardrobe is mostly navy so I love the color as it works with everything I have! I also really like the detailing across the top.

Features of the Jambu Blakely Encore:

  • All Terra Traction: Non-slip and partially recycled compressed rubber outsole for superior traction and durability.
  • Memory Foam Footbed: Contoured Memory Foam Footbed for support and comfort.
  • Vegan: The Blakely Encore is made with tumbled, brushed vegan leather, and microsuede.
  • APMA Seal of Acceptance: The American Podiatrists Medical Association gave their seal of acceptance to these shoes for promoting good foot health.

Jambu Eagle

Hanging out in the cabin garden in my Jambu Eagle in navy.

Most of the boots I have from my past life are all zip-up styles, so it's been a while since I had an ankle boot. But the elasticized material on the sides makes slipping them on and off super easy. Every time I put these on there is a song that goes through my head: “Rain, rain, don't go away. I want to take my Jambu Eagles out to play…”

I can't wait for the rain to really come as I think these are going to be my go-to! I haven't worn ankle boots in forever, so I am still trying to figure out the best jeans to wear with them, would love any recommendations from any East Coast ladies who have more experience!

Features of the Spirit Eagle:

  • All Terra Traction: Non-slip and partially recycled compressed rubber outsole for superior traction and durability.
  • Memory Foam Footbed: Contoured Memory Foam Footbed for support and comfort.
  • Water Resistant: The perfect option for when your feet need protection during inclement weather. These shoes will keep your feet warm and dry.

Jambu Spirit Encore

Trying not to fall in my Jambu Spirit Encore in navy!

The photo above is definitely a misadventure moment! Mr. Misadventures had to go into action mode on his camera because I was having a hard time keeping my balance! BUT. I did not fall. Maybe it was those traction rubber outsoles OR maybe it was the fact that Mr. Misadventures was going to kill me if I didn't stand still! You be the judge 🙂

My pair of Jambu Spirit Encore is not new, but they are still in this fall's line-up. You've seen me wearing them while camping in Alstrom Point, they made an appearance in our Tepui tent, and while hiking around Cottonwood Canyon.

Why? Well because they are pretty awesome.  They are great all-day shoes for hiking. These eco-conscious vegan sneakers are very versatile. They are also a nice hybrid shoe for anything from grazing through a farmer's market to strolling a boardwalk in a state park.

Jambu Cornflower

Enjoying the afternoon in my Jambu Cornflower in red.

You should recognize these are well. Another big favorite of mine! You've seen them in White Pocket and while visiting a fancy resort in Paradise Valley Arizona (I'm wearing them in the hammock photo). The point is they can go from outdoors to indoors with ease!

Since the vast majority of my wardrobe is blue, my red Jambu Cornflowers also add a pop of color, what more can a Francophile ask for? Performance! These fashionable, foot-friendly, dependable shoes continue to be in my weekly rotation!

Features of the Cornflower:

  • All Terra Traction: Non-marking and partially recycled compressed rubber outsole for superior traction and durability.
  • Memory Foam Footbed: Contoured Memory Foam Footbed for support and comfort.
  • APMA Seal of Acceptance: The American Podiatrists Medical Association gave their seal of acceptance to these shoes for promoting good foot health.
  • Variety of Sizes: These are also available in wide sizes!

Both the Lorina and Mayland are non-slip, waterproof, and have a warm inner lining and memory foam footbed so you won't care that you are trudging throw rain or snow!

How to Pack Boots for Travel

Travel in fall and winter means bringing boots. Here are my recommendations for packing boots for travel.

  1. If flying, and if at all possible, wear your boots on the plane. This allows more space (and weight) for other shoes you may need to bring. It might be a pain at the airport (or train) security even with TSA Pre-check, but it is worth it.
  2. If you are packing your boots into a suitcase, place them flat on opposite sides of the suitcase so that you have space between the boots to put clothes.
  3. Put clothes into the boots – roll shirts, or add socks, rolled underwear, etc. Do not let that space go to waste.
  4. Make sure you have a shoe bag (Jambu shoes and boots each come with them) or worst case a plastic grocery bag will do to protect your clothes and suitcase from damage from the bottom of the shoe. Your boot may be clean to start but coming home, maybe not so much!
  5. If you do not want to wear your boots and you don't have room in your suitcase, you can put them in your carry-on bag. A roomy backpack or tote should be able to handle your boots.

Final Thoughts!

Another year. Another season. And I am still wearing my Jambu. Through all my adventures and misadventures at home and around the world these shoes with their combination of form and function, of comfort and fashionable colors, styles, and detailing, have me always reaching for a pair whether I am heading out for the day locally or packing a bag for a trip. I do not have to sacrifice anything to have my feet look good and feel good!

How about you? Do you have a favorite Jambu shoe that you would like to share? What are you loving in the new fall collection? Do tell!
