RV Travels: Weekly Wanderings #45 – Key West

weekly-wanderings-key-west

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. For my friends in Paris and beyond, hope it was a good Thursday 😉

We tried to go to the beach. And we succeeded. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. to get a good spot at Bahia Honda State Park. We got a great spot, in fact, we were the only ones there!

But then at 9:30 it started pouring down rain and we were forced home. Don't fret for us. We went back to our amazing RV resort (see the opening photo above). It is so rare that an RV resort actually lives up to its website and reviews. I was blown away when we arrived. We are paying a pretty penny, but it is sooooo worth it.

We visited Key West four years ago and I didn't love it. Although I did take a lot of photos. That was back when I was still carrying around my camera instead of relying on the hubby. The difference this time? The place we're staying. It's not downtown in the touristy area, instead, we are in paradise…plus we can cook our own meals, prepare local seafood and be undisturbed.

Most days I just sit in front of the water with my eyes closed, cool breeze in the air dreaming of my time in French Polynesia. We've gone out to visit a few parks, but mostly I am staying put. I have been looking forward to this all year.

Mr. Misadventures would rather be photographing some rock somewhere, but marriage is a compromise, and he will suffer through the next ten days because he knows I just want to sit in my tiki cabana and do nothing!

Or almost nothing. I am starting to get my blog mojo back a little. I just haven't been there which I mainly attribute to Jessica, but also our experiences at Red Bay and multiple days of travel on the road. The rest is doing me good.

Or maybe it's my office:

My tiki office.

I better soak it all in because when we leave next week we will be on the road for 8 days straight to get to Las Cruces for a revisit of the area before heading back to Phoenix.

Bluewater Key RV Resort, Key West, Florida.

That was my week, how about yours?

  1. Wow, this is awesome! My mom has an Airstream, and they’ve stayed at some pretty beautiful campsites, but this cabana with a beach view takes RV camping to a whole new level. Soak up every minute!

  2. I can definitely see how that office would be motivational!
