Ode to my Osprey

Dear New Osprey,
Boy, do you have big shoes to fill! My last Osprey and I were together just shy of 15 years. He was with me on all my adventures (and misadventures), big and small. He saw me through good times and bad and has never once let me down. Some might say that that’s a bit obsessive, but I couldn’t imagine my life without him!

Yes, you are a replacement but I will love you and take you everywhere just like the last guy.

We are going to have such adventures. And since you are new here, just letting you know there will be misadventures as well! I will try not to hurt you or leave you. If you are anything like my last backpack, we will be friends for a while!

To my old backpack, I will miss you dearly but I know that we will meet again. You were part of my life for so long and meant so much to me, it was hard to let go. But I am excited to see what the future holds with this new guy by my side!

From one backpack lover to another,

Happy Trails!

Why Osprey

When you’re looking for a new piece of gear, it’s important to think about more than just the price. You want to find something that will last for years and won’t end up in a landfill. That’s why choosing gear with a lifetime guarantee is such a smart choice.

Not only does it mean you’ll never have to worry about your gear breaking down on you, but it also means you’re helping the environment!

Lifetime guarantees are becoming more and more common as companies realize that they’re good for business. After all, what’s better for a company than having a customer for life?

And when you’re looking at gear with a lifetime guarantee, you can be sure that it’s been built to last. This means you won’t have to replace it as often, which is great for both your wallet and the environment.

When it comes to outdoor bags, luggage, daypacks, and accessories, I choose Osprey. They have what is called the All Mighty Guarantee:

“Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday.”

And they just proved it. My faithful buddy of 14.5 years was sent for repair. Osprey could not repair it so they replaced it – FOR FREE – with a new Talon 22 Cosmic backpack in red very similar to my old one.

I think that companies that offer these types of guarantees are more honorable. They’re not just looking to make a quick buck – they want their customers to be happy and they’re willing to stand behind their products. And that’s something I can definitely get behind!

So next time you’re in the market for a new backpack, be sure to look for the lifetime guarantee. It’s a smart choice for you and the planet!

  2. This is so great to hear they follow through on that promise! I have two Osprey packs – my big backpacking pack and a day pack. They are another level from all others!

  4. Wow, Osprey really stands by its brand. Or for them to stand by their backpack after that many years to replace it because they cannot fix it. I am very impressed.

  5. This bag sounds great. Having seen your post I think it would be perfect for my brother in law. He does like to go hiking.

  6. My husband has a backpack for adventures too. But it’s old old old, very old. I hope that Osprey can convince him to substitute the old one 🙂
