Watching | Blacklist (James Spader rocks!) and Mad Men
> Silicon Valley is up next!
Reading | Hawaii an epic novel by James A. Michener
> Hawaii is massive! It is going to take me a bit of time to get through it, but I am LOVING it!
Working On | My blogiversary
> July will be 8 years that Misadventures with Andi has been around and I want to do something special. What do you suggest?
Feeling | Relaxed
> I arrived on Hawaii yesterday and looking forward to relaxing and enjoying my unstructured week. Mr. Misadventures is in a photography workshop for four days in Hilo which leaves me free to do whatever I want. I have a few tours lined up and spots to eat, but not too many plans. Moving to Kona at the end of the week with zero plans except to relax, eat and explore!
Planning | Trips to Montana/Wyoming and Paris
> Make-up trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton (Jessica's 2nd surgery prevented us from going last year) and then Paris for Thanksgiving.
Loving | The moment
> There are so many uncontrollable things in life, I just try to embrace the moment!
My Favorite Photo | Unconstrained Joy
>While waiting for the sunset at the park next to the Brooklyn Bridge, I spotted these kids playing in a water fountain. The fountain sprays waters in lines that eventually makes a box and it rotates. The kids were having fun trying to figure out how to not be boxed in or caught off-guard and therefor get wet. Simple pleasures, they are the best!
What is CURRENTLY going on with you?
Hawaii , great book! I read Chesapeake, after Hawaii, love that one too. Enjoy your down time.
@Jacquie, there are SO many great James Michener books, I think a person can spend a lifetime just reading his novels!
Are you on Oahu? You’ve eaten at the north shore shrimp vans, right?!
@Katie, I am on the big island, Hawaii. Have not done the North Shore of Oahu yet, but I am doing a pretty good job of eating along the shore of Hilo!
I just got a whole lot more relaxed reading this Andi. You seem to be in a great mindset and in a beautiful place. So many people race through vacations where they end up needing a vacation from their vacation when they return. I just returned from a dude ranch in Montana where we drove cattle, did some clay pigeon shooting, ATV riding and whitewater rafting. I may need a small vacation after all that activity, but I enjoyed every second. I hope you continue to do the same!
@Kelly, I have certainly been on many of the race around kind, and as we speak Mr. Misadventures has been racing around with a group of photographers the last few days and I think he is jealous of my vacation 😉 lucky for him, we have 3 days together where I plan to continue to not do too much and the hubby can recover from the first part of his vacation!
I live these kinds of posts and I’m considering starting one myself. I know so much more about you now than if I had read your “about me” page or regular blog post. You are so lucky to be in Hawaii right now, living such a carefree life. Enjoy! PS I need to go check out the Jeppe Hein: “Please Touch the Art” exhibition the kids are playing in at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
@Leslie, thanks, glad you stopped by, it gave me a chance to find you! I borrowed this idea from another blogger and I have other blogging friends who are doing it now as well, so go forth and take it for your own blog!
What an amazing place to be with no plans! Hawaii has always been a favorite destination of mine and exploring the islands is a blast! Sounds like you are having an amazing June so far hope it continues for you!
@Tammilee, to be honest, I am totally enjoying it!
Sounds like you’ve got a great month of June. I’d love to be planning a trip to Paris 🙂 I’m currently reading some good Chick Lit as well as studying to take my nursing boards. I’ve also got lots of outings planned for me and my son for the summer 🙂
I love this post, currently… such a simple word but it can mean so much! June looks great for you! Love how active you plan to be! For me, I’m just exploring and taking each day as my first. Love going for outdoor walks and going shopping!
@Michelle, thanks! I love taking it one day at a time as well, there is too much planning that you have to do in life already!
It sounds like you have a lot going on in June! Congrats on your pre blog anniversary of 8 years! How exciting can that be! It has only been a little over two years for me!
You sound like you are having the best time…and why wouldn’t you, that’s Hawaii! Your post made me realize I am ready for a vacation. I’m trying to put it off as long as I can but your post motivated me to do it sooner than later. And being by a beach sounds perfect right about now.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Enjoy hun!
Cori
@Corina, go get that vacation!
WOW…Happy upcoming blogiversary! Sounds like you are going to have an amai=zingly relaxing time in Hawaii. Enjoy!
It’s also sometimes great to move to a new country or city without having an intensely-prepared plan so you can relax and enjoy your stay. If you have friends in the area, you can also meet up with them to catch on the latest happening in Kona. That photo of the water fountain really looks nice. Enjoy the simple things!
@Rochkirstin, so true. Had friends on the Hilo side which I got to visit, Kona will be just me and my hubby.
I love the photo with the kids in the fountain. My kids would probably love playing in that as well. Right now, we are in Galveston, TX. We had a big trip planned and when we got here Tropical Storm Bill was arriving as well. Thankfully, the storm was relatively milk and it kept everything cool, so we really had a great time. Now it’s sunny and bright and we’re headed to a waterpark today.
@Stephanie, nothing worse than some kind of weather condition to “alter” plans, glad it wasn’t too bad and the kids get to play in the water today!
Right now, I’m neck deep in zombies and loving it. The Walking Dead is an AMAZING show.
@Dawn, oh I haven’t seen that one yet! Maybe that will be next!
Great plans you have for the month of June already so peaceful! Also congrats on your upcoming 8 month anniversary!
Happy upcoming blogiversary! That’s so exciting!

Happy upcoming bloggiversary. I laughed at the question you ended with. Everything here is so upside down right now that I’m still in shellshock. But positive forward moving helps. 🙂

That is a beautiful photo! I’m currently not up to a whole lot. Just blogging like normal. Taking my daughter to get her allergy testing tomorrow. Hope all goes well for her.
We watched a few episodes of silicon valley on a flight, and it was so funny! We haven’t had the chance to check out the rest of it yet.. but it’s on our list. 🙂
