Watching | Scandal
> I bit the bullet and just did it. I really had to work at finishing season 6 last year and wasn't really interested in season 7. But then I started wondering what happened to Olivia and Fitz (I was always Team Ftiz) so I watched the last season of Scandal and I am glad it is over and done with. They had moments of brilliance, but then a lot of it was “same old, same old.” We completed watching the 3rd and final season of Versailles by streaming it through the BBC. I am very sad they stopped at 3 seasons because I thought it was very well done. It follows Louis the 14th as he begins building out Versailles and the costumes alone are worth the watch. The first 2 seasons are available on Netflix (the 3rd will come eventually) if you want to check it out.

Reading | The Great Alone
> It took me a little more than a month to finish Barkskins from Annie Proulx the 713 pager was impressive. I like historical fiction so was sucked in right away and continued to enjoy following 2 family lines from their early days in French Canada through their adventures in the U.S. Plane rides back in forth to Grand Rapids and my new Flexispot made getting through this tome far faster. I took a little break to watch Scandal, but next up is a recommendation from two friends, The Great Alone. After my epic fishing trip to Alaska, they thought I should check this one out.
Working On | An event
> I had a blast during the blogger/photographer event in April. I'd like to do something similar but smaller in size. 5 bloggers and 5 photographers so I'm gathering a few local ladies to do this in the autumn, have a beautiful hotel picked out now it is just a matter of organizing the date.
Feeling | Ready for cooler weather
> Barely making it through our second summer in the Phoenix area. It is tough when you want to do outdoor things and it's in the 100's. Even going to the pool isn't enjoyable unless it is at 6 in the morning and I am ready for a little cooler weather. One way or the other we are heading out camping next weekend so I'm hoping for cooler evenings since will be on the remote north side of the Grand Canyon.
Planning | Blog work
> I'm going to be slowing down on newer posts so that I can focus on optimizing older posts. My Traveler Tuesday and A to Z series will both being going on hiatus and I will be posting less new content. But there will still be plenty for you to entertain yourselves with on the blog, promise! I've got some fun guest-posters and a few other things up my sleeve.
I'm also still available for blog coaching and assessments. I worked with a lovely travel blogger this month and it was a lot of fun.
Loving | Slowly Networking & Visiting Friends
> I had such a great time seeing my pal Lois this past month. We were both Buick brand ambassadors in 2015 on the Experience Buick project and I loved her immediately. Lois comes to the Phoenix/Scottsdale frequently and I will take any hour I can get with her. A few months ago I even met her at the airport for a drink just so that we could see each other! This past month we were able to have brunch in Scottsdale and some fun at a polar ice bar in Phoenix! ON the local scene, I'm seeing invitations coming for events which means my networking is working. And next month I'm catching a baseball game (yes!) with a blogger currently living in Tucson.
My Favorite Photo | Abby Fox Photography
I had such a great time working with Abby while I was in Grand Rapids. I think it is important to have fresh photography so people can see the person behind the blog a bit more. It only took 10 years to get into the habit, but I'm working on it! I have some planned projects with 3 local photographers, I think it is going to be lots of fun!
What is CURRENTLY going on with you?
Like it? PIN it!
I really need to work on optimizing a bunch of my older posts too, but I have so many outstanding posts I still gotta write! Sigh, haha. I’ll get it together someday! 😛
That blogger/photographer event sounds like fun! I’m hoping to get to do something like that someday!
Once a week I try to take my son to a library near us for story time. We tried out the Southeast Atlanta Library today. I was thoroughly impressed. There’s even a lovely park and trail nearby, so my 8-month-old son and I had a really nice time exploring. Now, I’m currently optimizing blog posts, and he’s currently crawling around on the floor fighting sleep.
August, now we’re almost into September. Crazy how time flies. I need to get a grasp on my business for sure, things are sort of just running me, versus the other way around. I don’t have much going on just trying to find a rental so I can be under same roof with my kiddos again, maybe that’s my September wish.
So awesome that you were able to do a blogger event! And I am in love with your favorite photo!
I’m slowly easing back into blogging after taking a month-long break. Enjoying my kids going back to school and everyone getting back into a routine.
Way to go on being on that Buick project! 🙂 And how fun to get to meet up with blogger/photog friends, even if it’s just for an hour!
I think I got through just the first part of season 6 of Scandal and then stopped. I tried jumping back in recently and had no idea what had happened to the storyline, but I think I would need to go back to the beginning to appreciate it. I totally understand your burn-out on it though. I got to the point where I hated both Fitz and Jake!
I love this photo of you!!
I love Scandal! Great show 🙂 I also started optimizing older posts recently and it’s helped my blog so much!
