Traveler Tuesday – Esther of Local Adventurer
I met Esther of a couple of months ago in a blogger support group and from the very first visit to her blog Local Adventurer I was smitten. It is gorgeous, inspiring, insightful and fun. Esther is a total delight to, she oozes positivity and a real desire to find all of the best things to do in her local area.
Esther and Jacob (her husband) have been exploring Las Vegas for the past year, with monthly trips to Los Angeles to film her hubby's YouTube series, and I swear they have explored almost every inch of that town! They are planning their next home base to explore from and I for one cannot wait!
Let’s meet Esther (and Jacob)!
[1] When and how did you become a traveler?
Money was a big issue in my family growing up, so I rarely traveled except for spending summers in Korea funded by my extended family and doing the quintessential all American family road trips. It wasn't until I started my photography business in 2005, that I was able to travel all over the world for conferences, workshops, and weddings. I've been hooked since!
[2] What is travel to you in 10 words or less?
Travel is seeing with new eyes over seeking new lands. [totally stole that from a Marcel Proust quote, but it sums up how I feel!]
[3] What is your favorite mode of transportation and why?
I love flying. Though I don't consider being trapped in a small seat with stuffy air the most fun, nothing beats the sunsets on a plane. Also, nothing gives me greater perspective than being on the other side of the clouds and seeing how tiny everything is and visually seeing how every storm comes to pass.
[4] What do you typically do while traveling by plane?
We reserve plane time for watching as many movies as possible or reading. If they don't offer movies for free, we usually make sure we put enough books and movies on our kindles and iPad.
[5] What is your favorite travel memory involving food?
My favorite travel memory involving food is finally getting into French Laundry last year. Jacob had tried to get reservations for months but could never get us in. Somehow a girlfriend of mine managed to book a table for four, so we last minute rearranged our plans and drove up to Napa from Vegas. Everything was cooked to perfection, and it has been my favorite dining experience so far.
[6] What is one blogging tip or lesson that you have learned along the way that you can share with my readers?
Planning ahead has been so important for me on weeks that I just feel uninspired. Starting a series also helped me stay on a blog schedule. I used to find it really difficult to come up with content to post up once a week, but once I started my Travel Tuesdays and Local Adventures series, it seems like all my days are filled up. I've now drafted posts with content 4-5 times a week for the rest of 2015.
[7] Where to next?
We've been meaning to set foot on every single continent, and when we went to Fiji and New Zealand, I had mistakenly thought every country was part of one of the 7 continents. Guess I learned it all wrong back in grade school! We don't have any plans yet, but we're hoping to visit Australia next year.
Thanks Esther!
You can keep up with Esther on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, BlogLovin and Pinterest. Wherever you catch her, I am sure you will enjoy her adventures!

@Christine, maybe 3-year-olds will? One can always hope!
it can be done! it just might take some fighting. hehe i know it’s definitely much easier to be mobile without kids, but our hope is the traveling won’t have to stop. some good friends of ours took their toddler on a roadtrip across america for a few months in their RV. we hope we can make it happen.. but don’t want to speak too soon!
