You Can’t Avoid Social Media

It doesn’t matter what you are doing, social media marketing is unavoidable. It is such a huge part of our world. Even if your business doesn’t work on the internet, promoting yourself with social media is essential to any successful modern business (including the business of blogging!). It’s a lot more obvious for artists and musicians, but they aren’t the only ones who need eyes on their work.

You Have To Use SEO

Do you know what SEO is? SEO stands for search engine optimization. Basically put, SEO is how high you land on search engines. To get to the top of these pages, you need a coordinated strategy. You need to use keywords people will type into a search engine before finding your business.

With unique keywords that you corner, metadata, blogging, hyperlinks, and other website-building techniques, you can put your website at the top of Google or Bing. You can also create a strategy in which your SEO and social media pages are synergized.

Your keywords become hashtags. Anyone in technology will understand the importance of SEO, but even if you aren’t in tech, it is incredibly important for the success of a business.

Use High-Quality Design for Digital and Tangible Ads

Are you paying for advertisements? Whether you’re taking out ads or just promoting yourself, it is necessary to use high-quality designs. Graphic designers are quite valuable. They can make something beautiful that represents what you are doing. They can embody the spirit of your project and help you meet your goals. Not only will this work translate digitally, but you can also use it for tangible ads, flyers, and artwork.

For example, a Chicago billboard (I saw so many on my last trip!) will get seen by thousands of people, but if it doesn’t grab their attention what good is it? Whether you are just making brand art or a billboard worth thousands of dollars, it’s imperative to use high-quality designs that get the attention of your target demographic.

Plan an Event

A great tool to get people online involved with what you are doing is to plan an event. People like parties. They like to be included. They like face-to-face interaction. Promote the event online.

While the internet is an undeniably useful tool, it is quite saturated. Sometimes people need personable engagement to respond to your call-to-action. They need to get inspired. If you are trying to get investors, customers, clients, friends, and family excited about a business model, product, service, or work, plan an event.

Celebrate your successes. Declare your goals. Have some fun and make some contacts.

Andi and Elizabeth Click Collaborative

I did this while I was living in Phoenix. A local photographer and I created events bringing bloggers and photographers together. We did advertising on Facebook to find local people interested in Collaborating and it turned out great. BUT it was a lot of work!

Promoting any kind of professional project is a long, arduous task. It comes with a lot of ups and downs. One day you can feel on top of the world. The next thing you know, you can feel like success is out of reach. The modern world complicates things. The internet is saturated and social media is a game. However, you can use all the tools at your disposal in tandem to overcome the obstacles and create something special.

The main thing is to never give up. You can use all these methods to promote what you are doing, but you may not hit for years. You may never go viral or see the kind of boost that makes people known. Still, if you stick with it your hard work will begin to pay off.

As with any type of business, you need to believe in what you are doing. If you are doing something unique, original, or special, allow the work to guide you.
