Jacksonville – The Perfect Destination for Music Lovers

Disclosure: This post was created in collaboration with InterContinental Hotels Group. As always, all opinions are my own. Florida is many things to many people. Beach people. Food people. Adventure people. But what I didn't realize is that Florida is a great place for music people. In particular, the city of Jacksonville is the perfect destination for music lovers. Jacksonville has a deep pool … [Read more...]

Social Media Sunday – The Patron Project – Cultivating the Next Generation of Artists

A few weeks ago I had the honor and the privilege of attending a very special launch event for The Patron Project, a collaborative effort from TRI (Tamalpais Recording Institute) the studios owned by The Grateful Dead's Bob Weir and Swirl an interactive agency in San Francisco.  The event was intended to bring together brands and musicians, as well as media and agencies to discuss the idea of … [Read more...]

Music Memory Monday – Rock Me Tonite

So Thursday night was the launch of my project at work (yay!) and I was up way, way later than I would normally be. I was doing testing, but had to wait between tweaks so I was passing the time a bit on Twitter when this tweet came through on my timeline. Intrigued, I click the link to find this video. Instant flashback. 1984. Freshmen year of high school. MTV. That video was s-e-x-y. I … [Read more...]

Crazy Love eclipses New Moon

Last week it was reported that Michael Bublé's new album Crazy Love beat out the New Moon soundtrack for the top spot on the Billboard 200.  I was in shock.  As President of S.P.L.A.T., I had to check it out! Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Michael Bublé. My husband and I played the It's Time CD in our car in France like no other album existed for at least a year. I especially love Home.  … [Read more...]

Music Memory Monday – Beastie Boys

On the plane home from Las Vegas yesterday I was flipping through TV channels (I love you Virgin America) when I stumbled across VH1 and some band singing a Beastie Boys song in tribute to them. I am not a rap fan, and was never really fan of the Beastie Boys except for one weekend during my junior or senior (I can't remember which) year of high school. The weekend was a "Just Say No To Drugs" … [Read more...]

Music Memory Monday – With Arms Wide Open

Music provokes all kinds of memories.  Some good.  Some bad. For me, the bad serve their purpose in the form of reminders or life lessons. Recently I have been working on a project that requires me to do data entry for several hours a day, it's a temporary situation, but needless to say quite boring. To make the time pass more quickly I have been listening to my full collection on iTunes. Buried … [Read more...]

Chris Mann's Mannventures

The world is a different place today. Back when I was reading the occasional Tiger Beat and walking around with a red handkerchief in the back of my Jordache a la The Boss (yes, I know they should have been Levi's, but Jordache were all the rage), if you wanted to communicate with your favorite actor, author or singer you had to write to them in care of their fan club and hope and pray to hear … [Read more...]

Yanni's Voices Projects

One of the conference hosts at Bissdom '09 (holla!), Barbara Jones of One2One Network worked in the music industry for 15 years and used that to call in chits in order to have the fabulous entertainment that we had at the conference. So to start the day out on Saturday we had a sneak peek of a new Disney/PBS project called Yanni's Voices. Four young (and gorgeous) up-and-coming vocal talents got … [Read more...]
