Weekly Wanderings #46 – Key West & On The Road

The ten days we were in our little RV oasis in Key West were simply perfect. One day blended into the next. I didn't know the dates, most times I didn't know the day.  It was exactly what I needed.  We had done something similar for ten days at Newport Beach on the coast, but it was a little different - cold, foggy, without internet.  I read lots of books and watched lots of CNN. This time, in … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #45 – Key West

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.  For my friends in Paris and beyond, hope it was a good Thursday ;-) We tried to go to the beach.  And we succeeded.  We arrived at 8:00 a.m. to get a good spot at Bahia Honda State Park. Key West is steeped in history and this sign describes only one of many firsts that this little city can claim.  I love how the palm trees drape the sign, it looks so tropical, like you might stumble upon it coming … [Read more...]

Misadventures in Key West

I have been trying to figure out a way to write this road trip report without sounding like a snob or a hippie (strange dichotomy I know, but trust me on this one) so in the end I think it just comes down to this Key West is not for me. I blame myself.  Even as a seasoned travel from time to time even I pull a rookie mistake. I didn't do enough research before booking this trip, heck I didn't do … [Read more...]
