We made it to Red Bay where we will be here a few weeks for RV repairs. Jessica passed away this week, so I know you will understand if I am unable to write more in this edition. Current location: Allegro Campground, Red Bay, Alabama. Photo credit: RV Wanderlust Save … [Read more...]

J’adore #66 – Cat Crazy Edition

I don't consider myself a crazy cat lady. I have Jessica and she has been a wonderful cat to have for the last fourteen plus years, but I wouldn't say I'd have another after her.  I am more of a dog person.  But, having said that, I have lately seen the most adorable cat products and I am beginning to question my sanity.  I guess it's meow or never.... Kitten Rain What I like about this … [Read more...]

Misadventures in Being a Cat Mommy

Jessica. This girl. [Sorry, this is a personal post that has nothing to do with travel or food, but everything to do with my life. I rarely write about personal stuff, so come back tomorrow if it bothers you.] I am not mother material and I am child-free by choice.  But somehow I ended up with Jessica, a cat that came into my life at 5 weeks of age.  And for thirteen years she has … [Read more...]

Lots of stuff going on around these parts and with a few friends, so I thought I would just go for buffer style for today! I am participating in two giveaways right now: > Partnering with Ma Nouvelle Mode on a $50 Sephora / $15 Starbucks gift card giveaway.  Ends March 23rd. > Partnering with Oh so Amelia on a $500 Cash giveaway. French Friday on Sunday – Poisson D’Avril (April Fool's Day)

If you check out the origins of April Fool's Day on Wikipedia there are several disputed origins, but being a devoted francophile, I like the French one the best...bien sûr! The story goes that in 1564 King Charles the XIV changed the calendar to start on January 1st instead of April 1st. Without the telegram, cell phone or newspapers there really was only word-of-mouth to get news from town to … [Read more...]

Kindness: Day 5 of 30 Days of Indie Travel Project

Continuing with Day 5 of the 30 Days of Indie Travel travel writing series. It's a series sponsored by Boots N All with daily prompts on travel. Today's prompt: One of the greatest joys of travel can be the random acts of kindness you’ll receive from total strangers. Have you ever found kindness from strangers in unexpected places? This one is easy. It is something that happened to me nearly a … [Read more...]

This Week in Photos #3: Film Geekery and Food

As a total film nut, I think I am pretty lucky to have the job that I do.  Being the social media manager at a company that is knee-deep into the film and entertainment business means I get lots of chances to get my inner film geek on!  And that is exactly what I did this past Monday and Tuesday when my company held a private film festival for media in our San Francisco office.  I was responsible … [Read more...]

Happy Birthday Jessica!

Today is my baby girl's birthday. Yes, I realize my cat is not a baby. But since I have no real children it works. Jessica is nine today. And here she is the first week I got her in 2001: Do not let that innocent look fool you. Right before this picture I had to have my boyfriend at the time dismantle my bathroom cabinet because she found a hole in the back corner and decided to hide there! I … [Read more...]

And where do you think you're going

I always wait until the last possible moment to get out my suitcase before a trip. As you can clearly see, it makes Jessica nervous and she needs to (a) get in and investigate, (b) get in the way and (c) do what she can to prevent me from leaving. But as I am leaving on the red-eye tomorrow night after work, and I leave the house at 6:00 in the morning, the suitcase had to come out tonight. And … [Read more...]

It's Jessica's fault

I had a really good reason for not blogging today...Jessica was hogging my desk chair!  Okay, yes, I could have used my MacBook, but in reality I was busy doing a bunch of house stuff that had been neglected the last couple of weekends due to vacation and many, many other things. I also have to get ready for my trip next week, as the way my memory has been lately, I want to make sure I am not … [Read more...]
