Oh la la, Godiva!
Disclosure: I have been selected as a GODIVA Ambassador and this is a post written by me on behalf of GODIVA.
Delicious. Decadent. Indulgent.
I am so worth it.
Okay so maybe trying every single flavor of GODIVA's new Trufflelata line is a “little” overindulgent, but how could I refuse? The kind folks at GODIVA invited me to a special event at one of their four boutiques in San Francisco where I got to try their two new summer treats, the aforementioned Trufflelata, and brand new soft serve. Refusing would have been rude, and that is just silly!
As an ambassador for GODIVA's Summer of Love I already shared my chocolate love story with you a couple of weeks ago, so you know how much I truly love this brand and their chocolate! GODIVA chocolates bring a little luxury to your life. A truffle can change the whole outlook of your day! It's one of the reasons why I love the new #ElevateEveryDay initiative.
They introduced Lady GODIVA Everyday, a new spot to #ElevateEveryDay through small acts of kindness to yourself and others. On the site, you can get tips from Lady GODIVA honorees and the women they inspire, as well as share your own inspirations. You can share your photos and tips on Instagram or Twitter using #ElevateEveryDay. I remember when I was living in France I would watch news stories about the amount of chocolate French women buy and eat. A square, a piece, a truffle every day is great for the mood, a delicious little indulgence for your soul.
GODIVA is a luxury brand, that gold ballotin box is opulent and it may not always be possible to buy on a daily basis, so the brilliant team at GODIVA created the brand new soft serve and Trufflelata treats that CAN be an everyday pleasure. And I can tell you that every single flavor is out of this world.
Before starting our chocolate feast, or I should say to kick it off, we had an amuse-bouche! The Lady GODIVA truffle which is dark chocolate with a white chocolate ganache inside…what a way to start!
Then began the flight of all six Trufflelata flavors: Chocolate Lava Cake, Salted Caramel, Strawberry Creme, Hazelnut Crunch, Milk Chocolate, and Oreo. GODIVA takes one of their truffles and blends it into a frothy shake and adds whip cream and syrup. This is a dessert created by customers, it was their idea and I think it is a pretty darn good one.
[These were sample sizes (thank goodness!).]
Going in I thought the chocolate lava cake was going to be my favorite, but honestly, I couldn't choose one! I thought the strawberry was going to be the easy one to throw out of the bunch, but it was delicious and refreshing.
It was tough (not really) but we made it through all six flavors and moved to the soft serve. We tried the two flavors – white chocolate with Madagascar vanilla and dark chocolate – separately and then swirled together.
The photo is a little fuzzy, I think I was high on cocoa beans!
Then as if our hosts hadn't been generous (wicked) enough, allowing us to try every flavor, they offered us a full-size soft-serve cone with the flavor of our choice in one of their heavenly Belgian (bien sûr!) waffle cones that are dipped in either milk or dark chocolate! Most of us were delightfully satisfied with the 9-item chocolate feast we had just nourished ourselves with, but I had brought a ringer.
Derek.
You remember him. He was also my partner in crime at Aveline (that is his sexy arm in my candlelight photo. And yes, my hubby knows about him!).
I never met anyone who loves chocolate more. Which was evidenced by the fact that when our hosts said we could have a regular-sized cone, his response was “yes please!”
And he ate every single bite!
The dark chocolate (72%) soft serve was definitely my favorite of the night. It has such a rich texture, it is like pudding. I know I can eat it every day, and with there being a boutique at the Westfield San Francisco Centre, so close to my office, I know that it will definitely be a weekly treat. I am going to get my lamb dumplings for lunch and then I am going to march over to GODIVA's and get that chocolate soft serve!
Speaking of Westfield, it was lovely to see fellow tastemaker Anita Chu of Dessert First. We talked a lot about chocolate, but who's counting!
I thoroughly enjoyed my chocolate-themed evening in the GODIVA boutique, I have tasted all the flavors of Trufflelata and soft serve and I can say scout's honor they are all delicious. In the spirit of Lady GODIVA, treat yourself, you deserve it!
How about you? Have you had a chance to try GODIVA? What is your favorite indulgence?
I was seriously dying over each and every instagram! What an experience. My favorite Godiva find so far is their champagne truffle. It pretty much encompasses everything lovely and decadent in this world!
OMG I have never had Godiva like this and I am so jealous. I have just tried the pre-packaged items.
so jealous! i didn’t know they made ice cream! i’m going to check out the website, because i love reading inspirational stories!
Oh my goodness, I’m so jealous of you right now! Chocolate is one of my big weaknesses!
Godiva makes ice cream?! That looks amazing.
Oh my, how do I get this job! A Godiva Ambassador!!!! So jealous
Lucky & Congrats! If I was Godiva Ambassador – chocolate for me everyday!
Just reading this post and looking at all of the divine desserts, I am almost salivating. Godiva chocolates are the best and I wish I had a little bit of heaven right about now.
@Birdiebee, I hear you! GODIVA is wonderful and a lovely treat!
I love chocolate but I am not really a Godiva fan. There chocolate is too rich for me but those chocolates look really good.
@Jennifer, you might like these frozen treats, they are not as rich as eating a truffle by itself.
Before reading your article, all I knew about Godiva was the naked ride on a white horse…thank you so much from a chocoholic..may you be blessed
This would be my favorite place! It’s probably a good thing there is not a Godiva Store near my house 🙂
uhhh..godiva’s just the best. the taste is just so natural! super love it
I love godiva. My mouth is watering.. bummer 😉
Oh wow, my wife loves Godiva! She would be heaven with this.
I have never had Godiva before – I didn’t even know they served ice creams!! Freaking out. Dark chocolate is my favourite!
@Jenn, this stuff is amazeballs, so delicious and decadent!
I’ve tried similar chocolates, but not Godiva. I think a few of those truffles would be good coffee creamers.
