A to Z – Tammy Gabel of Momma Tammy

A to Z interview series with Arizona bloggers

Tammy is a busy Mom who works in PR and Social Media in the East Valley of Phoenix. And she is an active lifestyle blogger at Momma Tammy! She recently did a Plastic-Free July and I absolutely cannot wait to read about the results! We also seem to have a common interest in true crime!

Let’s meet Tammy!

A to Z Arizona Blogger_Momma Tammy

[1] Favorite thing about Phoenix.
I’m from a small, mountain town in Northern California, so I really enjoy the diversity in Arizona. There are so many types of restaurants and variety of things to do – from performing arts to museums to sporting events to hiking and more. And being in the Valley, I can easily get my mountain fix with a short drive to Flagstaff or Payson. (I also enjoy not having to drive in the snow.)

[2] Least favorite thing about Phoenix.
Without getting political … the politics.

[3] What differentiates your area of the Valley of the Sun from all the other parts?
I live in a new development in the South East Valley, so it’s very family friendly and still somewhat agricultural. I also work in downtown Phoenix. I love that I drive past cornfields in my neighborhood and kids play in the street together after school and all the families look out for one another. But on the same day, I can check out a great, local coffee shop or a new mural when I’m downtown for work.

[4] Favorite coffee spot in Phoenix.
It’s hard to pick just one! A few faves include Giant Coffee (Phoenix), Lux Central (Phoenix), Peixoto (Chandler), and Jarrod’s (Mesa).

[5] Favorite spot for drinks in Phoenix.
With two little ones, I don’t get out for drinks a whole lot, but I’m a beer girl, so I enjoy OHSO, Four Peaks, and Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co.

[6] Favorite local hangout in Phoenix.
My girls and I love art and museums, so when our schedule allows, we enjoy First Friday, The Heard Museum and Phoenix Art Museum.

[7] Favorite breakfast spot in Phoenix.
Snooze and First Watch, which both have multiple locations, are among my favorites. I also enjoy Uprooted Kitchen and The Cutting Board.

[8] Favorite lunch spot in Phoenix.
I love the falafel sandwich at the Middle Eastern Bakery and Deli in Phoenix, and their lemonade (which has rose in it) is the best. Worth Takeaway in Mesa is always great. Their veggie sandwich is fantastic, plus they always have different specials, and I love their cold brew latte with spiced honey. Barrio Cafe in Phoenix is another favorite.

[9] Favorite dinner spot in Phoenix.
My husband and I recently went to Southern Rail for the first time and loved it. And I haven’t stopped thinking about the Lasagna al Forno at Pomo Pizzeria in Gilbert since I first tried it a year ago. Some places we enjoy going with the kids include Liberty Market, Joe’s Farm Grill, The Hub or LoLo’s Chicken and Waffles.

[10] One thing you always do/spot you always take friends from out of town to do/see.
We have a lot of sports fans in our family and circle of friends. If the timing is right, I love taking visitors to Spring Training. Nothing beats the weather in Arizona in March, or a beer and a hot dog in the middle of the day.

[11] How do you like to beat the heat?
We love to get out of town when we can and head up north or out of state. Otherwise, it’s all about splash pads, movies, library trips, and ice cream. Last year we started a tradition of going to a different place every week for a cool treat, and we’re keeping that going this year.

Thanks Tammy!

Museums and hiking would make me pretty happy too. It’s been way too long since I’ve visited Phoenix.

She seems like a really cool person. It is always great to know about the person behind the blog. It looks like she like the place she is living in now, and by the way she described it, I believe that is a perfect place to raise a family.
