Traveler Tuesday – Melody of Wherever I May Roam
I am so thrilled to introduce you to Melody Pittman of Wherever I May Roam, she is another fantastic BlogHouse'r I met in Indianapolis this summer and she was so incredibly warm and friendly, I instantly loved her! She has a generous heart, a curious nature (she asked a lot of great questions) and never stops to breathe, she is truly an infectious person to be around!
And if she wasn't fabulous on her own, she has made her blog multi-generational by adding her adorable daughter to her team, they are truly a dynamic duo!
Let’s meet travel blogger Melody!
When and how did you become a traveler?
I’ve been a traveler since I was around 17 years old and had a full-time job. My young life was traveling to Marriott hotels around the country where I took advantage of a friend’s discounted rates. My older friends used me to drive them to and from New York City during that same time so I basically learned to drive in Manhattan. 😉
What kind of traveler do you define yourself as?
Luxury traveler with a side of smart spending. I like a comfortable setting but hate to spend the money on frivolous items. Quality versus quantity works for me.
What do you love most about traveling?
So many things, it is hard to narrow down. I would have to say it is a close tie between learning about other people’s ways of life and culture and making lifelong friends. Of course taking pictures of beautiful things is a big bonus.
What do you dislike about traveling?
I dislike leaving my dog most of all and waiting all day in airports.
 Why should people travel?
Knowledge. Travel makes us so smart, both in common and practical senses. It makes us compassionate and able to solve problems and overcome surprise situations. It makes us appreciate the things we have and the lovely world we live in. Travel makes us bond with one another in a way that typical friendships mostly do not reach.
What famous person would you like to travel with?
Living it would be the Impractical Jokers (because they keep me laughing) and dead, Henry VIII. I am fascinated by his place in history.
 What won’t you travel without?
I never leave home without my camera.
Travel essentials – 3 things you always travel with.
Chargers, passport, and MacBook.
If you’re a foodie, what's your favorite food city? Do you have a restaurant recommendation?
My favorite foodie city is New Orleans. I love everything there! My faves include Bayona, Johnny’s Po’Boys, and Mr. B’s Bistro for Sunday Brunch. (I’m a classics kinda gal)
What's one location on your bucket list?
Mexico City for the Frida Kahlo museum and exhibits.
Do you have a piece of advice for bloggers starting out?
Size your pictures and correctly label them with alt tags and names. If not, it will come back to haunt you..over and over again.

How about you? What would you like to know about Melody?
Like it? PIN it!
Thanks for introducing us to Melody. I have always had the travel bug and recently my husband has started to enjoy it as well. I enjoy a good road trip too and my dream is to buy an RV and travel all over the country with my husband. He will fish and I will blog.
Luxury travel is the BEST travel! There is nothing better than being treated like an utter queen when away from home! I mean, travel is meant to be enjoyed. I totally get that if you kind of slum it when traveling, you typically wind up with some great and funny stories, but again, nothing beats the luxury travel experience! 😉
Great tips and shares. I love food from all places. True that we hate leaving pets behind ;P
Thanks for picking one of my absolute favorite travel bloggers. I love her energy. I’ve been following Melody for years and hope to one day go on a trip with her in real life. One can dream!!
@Sue, isn’t she the best?! I felt lucky to have gotten to know her a bit! I would LOVE to interview you, are you game?
First, I have to say I LOVE the top she is wearing – the orange with flowers! CUTE! I think it is cool she teamed up with her daughter. I have thought of doing that a time or three.
I would love to travel more but would hate leaving my pets behind. I hear there are more pet-friendly places nowadays but mine are getting too old to go on the road.
Her pup LOL that photo! He does look a but mad.
@Joely, having spent a few days with Melody I can tell you she is very fashionable! I hear you on the pet thing. My hubby and I really want a dog, but with our travel it really isn’t fair!
I love Tuesdays!! Just because I get to meet a new traveler and learn more about their favorites. I hope to join her in such a long list of places that she has visited. I agree with her though, do not leave with out your camera. You never know when you will find the perfect picture!
@Censie, I am so thrilled to hear that, I love meeting new bloggers every week too!
I always like being introduced to different bloggers. She definitely seems interesting. I agree with her that I never travel without my camera. I am not nearly as well traveled as she is for sure!
@Melanie, me too, which is why I love doing this series!
I would love to pick up my passport and travel. I would love to visit New Orleans as well and eat everywhere. We just got a cat, and it would be sad to leave him while I go on adventures, too.
I simply love her taste. Anyone who loves Urban Cowboy and Islands In the Stream has to be awesome! I agree with her tagging of pics it does come back to haunt believe me. Plus Impractical jokers! Wow! She seems like a blast!
@Shelley, she absolutely is!
Melody seems like someone I’d love to know. She’s brave (learning to drive in Manhatten – yikes!) .. kind hearted (sad to leave her puppies behind) .. and brave (traveling at 17). As someone who fell in love with the food in New Orleans, she definitely has great taste! x
@Ali, so glad you enjoyed getting to know Melody, as someone who met her in person, I can tell you she is pretty awesome!
I could not agree with you more on the things you must travel with in the electronic area. I always take my Mac Book and chargers for phones and computers.
I just got back from NOLA late last week. It was my first time and I agree, the food is amazing. We stayed the the warehouse district and there was an excellent Mexican food place- The Black Cat. It was sooooo good. The stuffed avocado with skirt steak. So good!!!
