I am so thrilled to introduce you to Melody Pittman of Wherever I May Roam, she is another fantastic BlogHouse'r I met in Indianapolis this summer and she was so incredibly warm and friendly, I instantly loved her! [1] When and how did you become a traveler?

I’ve been a traveler since I was around 17 years old and had a full-time job. My young life was traveling to Marriott hotels around the country where I took advantage of a friend’s discounted rates. My older friends used me to drive them to and from New York City during that same time so I basically learned to drive in Manhattan. 😉

[2] What kind of traveler do you define yourself as?

Luxury traveler with a side of smart spending. I like a comfortable setting but hate to spend the money on frivolous items. Quality versus quantity works for me.

[3] What do you love most about traveling?

So many things, it is hard to narrow down. I would have to say it is a close tie between learning about other people’s ways of life and culture and making lifelong friends. Of course taking pictures of beautiful things is a big bonus.

[4] What do you dislike about traveling?

I dislike leaving my dog most of all and waiting all day in airports.

[5] Why should people travel?

Knowledge. Travel makes us so smart, both in common and practical senses. It makes us compassionate and able to solve problems and overcome surprise situations. It makes us appreciate the things we have and the lovely world we live in. Travel makes us bond with one another in a way that typical friendships mostly do not reach.

[6] What famous person would you like to travel with?

Living it would be the Impractical Jokers (because they keep me laughing) and dead, Henry VIII. I am fascinated by his place in history.

[7] What won’t you travel without?

I never leave home without my camera.

[8] Travel essentials – 3 things you always travel with.

Chargers, passport, and MacBook.

[9] If you’re a foodie, what's your favorite food city? Do you have a restaurant recommendation?

My favorite foodie city is New Orleans. I love everything there! My faves include Bayona, Johnny’s Po’Boys, and Mr. B’s Bistro for Sunday Brunch. (I’m a classics kinda gal)

[10] What's one location on your bucket list?

Mexico City for the Frida Kahlo museum and exhibits.

[11] Do you have a piece of advice for bloggers starting out?

Size your pictures and correctly label them with alt tags and names. If not, it will come back to haunt you..over and over again.

  1. Thanks for introducing us to Melody. I have always had the travel bug and recently my husband has started to enjoy it as well. I enjoy a good road trip too and my dream is to buy an RV and travel all over the country with my husband. He will fish and I will blog.

  2. Luxury travel is the BEST travel! There is nothing better than being treated like an utter queen when away from home! I mean, travel is meant to be enjoyed. I totally get that if you kind of slum it when traveling, you typically wind up with some great and funny stories, but again, nothing beats the luxury travel experience! 😉

  3. Calvin F. says:

First, I have to say I LOVE the top she is wearing – the orange with flowers! CUTE! I think it is cool she teamed up with her daughter. I have thought of doing that a time or three.
I would love to travel more but would hate leaving my pets behind. I hear there are more pet-friendly places nowadays but mine are getting too old to go on the road.
Her pup LOL that photo! He does look a but mad.
    Great post!
