A to Z interview series with Arizona bloggers

Let’s meet Joanna!

A to Z - Joanna of the Local Jo

[1] Favorite thing about Phoenix.
There are so many people that you can reach out to for questions, suggestions or advice. Everyone is very connected!

[2] Least favorite thing about Phoenix.
The least favorite thing about Arizona is probably the heat. I can only go so long dealing with the heat until I can’t be outside anymore.

[3] What differentiates your area of the Valley of the Sun from all the other parts?
I live in Phoenix, so we have downtown and that alone is an adventure. Many people from different areas of the state like to come to Phoenix to enjoy the variety of local shops and restaurants. Phoenix is a gigantic city with so much to do, so you’re never bored!

[4] Favorite coffee spot in Phoenix.
This is probably the most difficult question because there are SO many. But, I recently discovered a coffee shop called Buzz Beans in downtown Phoenix (2222 N 16th St) and the owner is the best. Her syrups are made from scratch and she bakes the best banana snickerdoodles ever!

[5] Favorite spot for drinks in Phoenix.
My favorite spot for drinks would definitely Cobra Arcade (801 N 2nd St, Phoenix). The music and the fun arcade games you can play is the perfect match! If you want something more relaxing and as not as packed then Side Bar or Valley Bar is great.

[6] Favorite local hangout in Phoenix.
I’m always at different places all the time, but my current favorite place to hang out is Lux Central (402 N Central Ave. Phoenix).

[7] Favorite breakfast spot in Phoenix.
This is also a hard one because I love food. I would recommend Snooze (2045 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix), Southern Rail (300 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix) and Kiss the Cook (4915 W Glendale Ave, Glendale). I can’t just choose one, sorry!

[8] Favorite lunch spot in Phoenix.
Favorite lunch spot is Flower Child (100 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix) and Colado’s (10685 W Indian School Rd, Avondale).

[9] Favorite dinner spot in Phoenix.
For dinner, I’d recommend a new restaurant I recently discovered called, Casa Corazon (2637 N 16th St, Phoenix). Some of the best Mexican food served! Plus, their restaurant is an interior designer’s paradise.

[10] One thing you always do/spot you always take friends from out of town to do/see.
I am obsessed with markets. So, I try to find a new market’s that I haven’t been to because it is incredible to see how many local artists Arizona has. I also recommend boutiques like Rubymint General, Bunky Boutique, and Frances.

[11] How do you like to beat the heat?
I drink lemonade and go swimming to beat the heat. It’s important to wear sunscreen at all times here, but lemonade during the summer is my best friend!

Thanks Joanna!
