Holiday Highlight: Risamaymay

Electric-Memories- Marisa-WilliamsWe have reached the last Holiday Highlights, my series featuring six hard-working women who own a variety of small businesses that illustrate not only their talents, but their termination to carve out a little space to call their own, and I want to help.

It is no secret around these parts that Paris has a special hold on my heart.  And since I cannot live there at the moment, I digest all that I can.  The other thing I do is gaze at photos, other people’s photos.  I have yet to capture Paris the way I want to with my own photography so I seek out others.  Marisa Williams first commented on a post here in February which led me to her website and photography blog where I promptly fell in love.  Then I found out she sold her work and I knew that I wanted to highlight her work here.  You see Marisa is a traveler in love with Paris too and that makes us kindred spirits!

I asked Marisa if she would accept be interviewed so that we could get to know the artist behind the store and she graciously accepted.

[MWA] What inspired you to start your business?

[Marisa] Photography and other arts or crafts (e.g., calligraphy, book-making) have been a lifelong passion, but it was the gentle nudging and support of family and friends that gave me the courage to transform my self-taught hobbies into a business.

[MWA] You have amazing photos from all over the world, do you travel a lot? Specifically for business, or are these photos from vacations, etc.?

[Marisa] Making pictures is a pleasure and as I have no idea how to travel without camera constantly in hand, all of my adventures afar are working vacations.

[MWA] Where is your favorite place to take photos?

Europe is my undying source of inspiration and as much as I love France, my favorite European country is undoubtedly Italy. No competition. But if you want me to pin down a favorite photogenic European city, I’d have to say it’s a tie between those two grandest of dames – Venice and Paris. And if really hard-pressed, I’d have to pick Paris.

Electric-Memories-by-Marisa-WilliamsMerci Marisa!

There are just too many beautiful photos in Marisa’s Etsy store Risamaymay so I have decided to giveaway a $30 spending allowance to buy what you want!

You have until midnight Saturday, December 31st to leave your comment and complete any extra entries you desire.  I will use to select the winner.
