Friday Foodie – Taylor of Food Faith Fitness
Food is love. And food bloggers are people filled to the rim with their passion for food and sharing it with others. I can't tell you much of my daily conversations are about food, it is embarrassing! I think that is why I love being around other food bloggers, I feel less crazy!
I am thrilled to introduce you to another food blogger today. Taylor of Food Faith Fitness (notice that food is first….just saying!). Taylor has been blogging for just over a year but acts like she has been doing it a decade. A total pro!
Let's meet Taylor!
[1] Have you always been a foodie, or is that something you grew into?
I have always been a foodie. Even growing up I used to go to my Aunt's house to spend the night, and we would spend ALL day baking. It is one of my fondest memories growing up, and I have her to thank for my love of recipe creation!
[2] How and why did you begin your blog?
I began my blog because my husband told me to haha! I am kind of a home body, and I used to always come home from work, make us dinner and then we would watch The Food Network. One day he urged me that I need a hobby. He mentioned maybe starting a food blog because I loved to cook, and he loved the meals I made for us….so, I did! I had no idea it would eventually turn into my full time job!
[3] What’s your favorite thing to make/cook?
My favorite thing is ANYTHING Ethnic…but I do tend to prefer Thai and Indian Cuisine. I grew up in Vancouver, Canada, which is known for it's international cuisine. Because of my upbringing, those are the flavors I like and tend to want to cook and eat!
[4] What is your favorite thing to eat?
As lame as this sounds, my favorite thing to eat is oatmeal. I am totally oatmeal obsessed and eat it at least twice, and up to 4 times in a day. My favorite way to make it is to add some blueberries and a little bit of sweetened cream cheese! It tastes like a hearty bowl of blueberry cheesecake that I can eat for breakfast – yum! 🙂 I have the recipe on my blog and have included a photo!
[5] What is your comfort food?
My comfort food is cheesecake – any flavor, any style, and kind, I don't discriminate haha! If I had to pick an all-time favorite kind though, it would be the white chocolate macadamia nut from The Cheesecake Factory!
[6] Describe your perfect food day?
My perfect food day is really lame, and kind of weird, but here it goes.
Breakfast: Blueberry cheesecake oatmeal, scrambled egg whites and a soft boiled egg ( I LOVE soft boiled eggs!)
Lunch: Toast with mashed avocado and a soft boiled egg on top (SO good!) With some baked chicken dipped in ketchup, because I am 5 years old and am obsessed with dipping everything in ketchup.
Snack: A small bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon and apples.
Dinner: Roasted Kabocha squash drizzled with peanut butter (don't knock it till ya try it – it's awesome!) And some baked Mahi mahi with Thai peanut sauce.
Bed time snack: I blend cottage cheese with chocolate protein powder, stevia and almond butter and then top it with toasted coconut. It sounds totally disgusting, but I have been eating it every night for 3 years. It tastes like Almond Joy Cheesecake, but it's super healthy and has 30g of protein! I have included a picture, and the recipe is also on my blog.
[7] What are three other blogs that inspire you?
Three other blogs that inspire me: Cooking for Keeps, The Roasted Root and Half Baked Harvest
[8] Do you have advice for bloggers just starting out?
My advice is to only do it because you truly love it. Don't do it and hope that it will one day become your job, or to make a lot of money, because you will burn out FAST if those are your motives. Blogging is A LOT more than making food and taking pretty pictures. It is A TON of work.
I work on Food Faith Fitness every day, and 5 of those days are 16 hour work days. I'm tired…but I LOVE every minute of it, so it doesn't burn me out. Also, don't feel like you have to learn everything about blogging NOW. I felt that way, and missed out on my first year of marriage because I was too busy “learning to blog,” that I neglected my husband. Bad bad bad!
Thanks Taylor!
Keep up with Taylor’s tasty tidbits on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Pinterest and of course by visiting Food Faith Fitness.
Thank you SO much for the feature- it was fun! 🙂
all of it looks sooo yummy
Wonderful looking food Taylor and a lovely interview. Even though I’m Canadian, I’ve never actually been to Vancouver. I passed through quickly to Victoria a few times.
I love ethnic foods – although the preparation of them intimidates me.
Thanks for sharing… wishing you a lovely weekend.
xoxo
very good interview,I am a big fan of Oatmeal also.
I signed up for her blogs,ty.
Great blog, I am going to get the recipe for the Blueberry Cheesecake Oatmeal
Watching the Food Network just makes me hungry! hehe!
I enjoyed learning more about Taylor. All of the recipes look delicious. I will have to go and check out her blog! I love to find new food blogs.
Your blog is fantastic, bright, easy to read 🙂 The pic of the fridge inspires me to go clean mine out. Great interview, thanks for sharing and the tips for bloggers 🙂
The blueberry oatmeal looks very good. I’ve never thought of preparing oatmeal like that. Funny that your husband forced you, kind of.
We are so glad that she started the blog thanks to her husband’s advice. Being a full-time food blogger is also hard, but when she has her heart in it, it will be quite fun and easier. Cheesecake is also one of my comfort food. 🙂
So true about food bloggers! Food and presenting recipes is something you really have to have a passion for to do well. I really enjoy seeing interviews like this with bloggers, and Taylor seems like a perfect choice to introduce here. I would love to go take a look at some of her recipes. Thanks so much for sharing a bit about her and her creative blog today.
My favorite thing about these type of interviews with other bloggers, is learning all about them. I wish my ex-husband told me to start a blog, that would of solved about half of our issues, instead it was more of a “you spend too many hours on your blog…” haha. All this food makes me so hungry! Totally great blog advice, “do because you love it..” That’s the best advice!
Great post.being a food blogger is absolulty fantastic but we have to understand its not a easy job too.its important to be good at it.i love trying new recepies so i am gonna take some from hers to try
She is beautiful and this is such a nice interview. I am always fascinated with food bloggers – the foodies as I love how they can interestingly describe a food (i love to eat but I am so poor in detailing what I eat to make it interesting to the readers! LoL!). Great advise from her too! Do it because you love it.
Cheesecake as a comfort food-I have never considered that before but am so going with it! My boys would love that oatmeal. Definitely going to be trying it. And great advice for new bloggers. Without the passion, it fizzles out quickly.
That oatmeal looks amazing, I need to try it!
Everything looks and sounds so delicious! I’m not much of a cook, but glad I married a chef! Lol Thanks for sharing!!
