Traveler Tuesday – Claudia of My Adventures Across The World

Traveler Tuesday

Today I'm here to introduce you to Claudia, an academic and human rights lawyer who changed her life to travel the world and pursue travel coaching and travel writing as a full-time freelance lifestyle. She started her blog My Adventures Across The World after a trip to Cuba in 2013 and she has been going ever since!

Let’s meet Claudia!

[1] When and how did you become a traveler?
I think I have always been a traveler. I have always been driven by curiosity, by the need to learn more about different cultures and different people; and to see different places.

[2] What kind of traveler do you define yourself as?
It really depends! I can gracefully switch from being an extreme budget backpacker using crowded public buses in Sri Lanka to a luxury traveler enjoying a private overwater villa in the Maldives.

[3] What do you love most about traveling?
I love meeting new people. Whether it is locals I get to talk to for a short while and with whom communication is limited due to language barriers; or other travelers that have a story to tell, or tips to share, I think it is the people that make traveling worth it for me.

[4] What do you dislike about traveling?
The three things I don't like about traveling are missing my cats; being unable to train at the local swimming pool; and eating weird foods (where weird qualifies with anything I am not accustomed to, such as the food in India).

[5] Why should people travel?
To learn about other people and other cultures! It's incredible how much NGOs and International Organizations can campaign and advocate human rights, but then something so simple such as a trip overseas has the power of showing that we are all the same, and we all have the same human rights.

[6] What famous person would you like to travel with?
This is the toughest question on this list. If he was still alive, Nelson Mandela. He inspired me to pursue my former career in human rights and made me who I am today.

[7] Travel essentials – 3 things you always travel with.
I always carry a scarf, because I get cold on planes; hiking boots because I am always looking for the next adventure, and sunblock because my skin is very sensitive.

[8] If you’re a foodie, what's your favorite food city? Do you have a restaurant recommendation?
I love Tel Aviv. It has some of the best food in the world, both international and local cuisine. My favorite restaurant there is Abu Hassan – it is a plain hummus and falafel place, really cheap and oh so delicious!

[9] What's one location on your bucket list?
Please take me to the Philippines. NOW.

[10] Do you have a piece of advice for bloggers starting out?
Don't expect it to be easy. Running a blog and trying to make money out of it is more than a full-time job.

  1. Having traveled a lot and owning a travel blog I can so relate to Claudia! I agree missing my cats is one of the worst things about being on the road. I love seeing different landscapes cultures and learning about different ways of life.

  2. It was great getting to know you in this post. I am far from being a traveler like you maybe once a year if I am lucky. I need to go back to Tel Aviv to that restaurant it is just my style.

My husband and I are both lovers of travel but are on a bit of a budget right now being newly married. We would love to go on adventures like these, though! The hole-in-the-wall falafel and hummus place sounds like a dream come true!

  4. What an interesting lady Claudia is! I like that she always has her hiking boots ready for any adventure. I would encourage her to be more open minded with new foods. Sometimes foods that originally seem “weird” to us end up becoming some of our favorites. I’m also putting Tel Aviv on my visit to eat there list. Thanks!

  5. I loved reading this… what an exciting lifestyle! We used to travel a lot pre kids and even with our first. But with the twins cane logistics, lol! We hope to get back to it soon as they become a little more independent. I love the idea of Tel Aviv and sampling the food!!

  6. While I love Indian food I agree I hate leaving my pets. I would absolutely LOVE to travel by train and love that first image of Claudia on the train! No better way to truly enjoy the countryside!
I also am like her in the sense that if I did travel more I could go from roughing it to luxury hotels lol.
    What a fun interview !

  7. I love travelling, too! It is my passion. I think we are learning a lot of new things and it is beautiful to know new cultures and taste new foods. The local food I love most!

  8. I completely agree that everyone should travel to explore other cultures. I love that she experiences so much on her travels. I also am so impressed by extroverts who can make friends with locals. That is my dream but I’m way to shy haha.

  9. Heather Stone says:

I certainly don’t travel as much as I wish I could. I do have so many places on my bucket list, I try to cross one off each year. This was a fun way to get to know you. Traveling is and can be such an adventure!

  10. Oh, this is so cool! I think I actually met Claudia briefly when I did a press trip to Nepal. We didn’t have the chance to talk much though so it’s great to learn more about her here. Awesome!
