Traveler Tuesday – Ashley of My Wanderlusty Life
When you take a look at Ashley of My Wanderlusty Life's bio, you can see right away that she is someone who you want to travel with!
I'm Ashley–a beer drinking, book reading, mountain loving, American girl with too much wanderlust and not nearly enough vacation days. I'm a full-time worker and part-time world traveler on a mission to help you travel the world on a time budget.
Not everyone is a full-time traveler, but when us full-time workers get away, like Ashley, we do it with gusto because we know we are coming back to work. I like having a home base too (even if sometimes that's an RV) and I'm glad to see that Ashley feels the same!
Let’s meet Ashley!
[1] When and how did you become a traveler?
I grew up taking summer vacations each year but never traveled internationally until I met my husband. His job took us all over but after my first trip abroad (to Venezuela) I was HOOKED. I was 24 years old.
[2] What kind of traveler do you define yourself as?
A super fast one. I like to see as much of a place as I can with what little time I have to travel. Early mornings & packed days! I'm truly in my element fitting three countries into nine days.
[3] What do you love most about traveling?
Being in a place where I don't speak any of the language and no one speaks mine. It's challenging, humbling, and totally freeing.
[4] What do you dislike about traveling?
The post-vacation depression! Trying to get back into the routine of life after an amazing time away in a new country is HARD.
[5] Why should people travel?
To put their egos in check. Traveling humbles you–no matter where you go or how often you do it. I don't think there's a person on Earth who couldn't stand to be taken down a notch.
[6] What famous person would you like to travel with?
Tom Hanks – I imagine he's great company, knows a lot of great restaurants, plus he's a hoot.
[7] Travel essentials – 3 things you always travel with.
Camera (even if it's just the one on my phone)
A travel pillow, religiously
A book to read at the end of the day–like an actual paper book
[8] If you're a foodie, what's your favorite food city? Do you have a restaurant recommendation?
I'm not particularly ‘foodie'… but it was Barcelona that had the best food I've ever put in my mouth. Go for pintxos at Irati Taverna Basca.
[9] What's one location on your bucket list?
Morocco
[10] Do you have a piece of advice for bloggers starting out?
Don't listen to the haters! The internet (and everyone else actually) will tell you there's already enough travel blogs out there and that breaking through will be impossible. Don't be discouraged. Find your own way to stand out!
[11] What are three other blogs that inspire you?
Annual Adventure | Inspiring me to take better photos and more serious adventures
A Dangerous Business | Inspiring me to visit New Zealand [Read my Traveler Tuesday interview with Amanda!]
Joy and Journey | Inspiring me to explore more of Latin America

Wow, great post! I also LOVED Florence! The villas, the piazzas, late nights drinking vino. I agree that it’s hard to adjust after travelling. I’m just about to read All the Light We Cannot See!
Wow her photos are so stunning. I too love to see as much of one place as possible. I would love to travel to half of these places!
What a great interview. My least favorite thing about vacations is the post-vacation depression as well.
Totally agree that you need an actual paper book and to be humble while traveling. Great tips!
Being from Rome I totally love the first photo. Loved getting to know Ashley
Great AMA! I, too, love to travel and pack in as much as possible each day!
I hate the post-vacation hangovers! I agree that it’s the worst part. I have to figure out how you’re such a fast traveler to visit countries so quickly!
You covered a lot of ground in those nine days. I haven’t covered that many countries in 41 years of life. How exciting!
