Hawaii Collection – Oh my, Hawaii!

I've been blessed to have been to Hawaii four times in the last couple of years (and I am due for another trip).  There is nothing quite like this island paradise. It breath-taking, relaxing, fun, tasty.  You can be adventurous as you want, explore the local cultures and foods, or do absolutely nothing and just enjoy the tropical breezes. I know the East Coast has the Caribbean and I've … [Read more...]

Maui Recap

I spent two-and-a-half memorable days in Maui.  I had great hosts at the Napili Kai Beach Resort, it was hard to leave my room and that gorgeous view!  When I did leave I met the warmest, most gracious people, they taught me the meaning of ohana. After a relaxing half-day of just doing nothing, I had jam-packed, farm-filled adventures at Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm, Ocean Vodka farm and the … [Read more...]

Maui – Surfing Goat Farm

I will confess.  I was in it for the cheese. Sure baby goats are cute and all, but goat cheese? Come to mama! Plus, I saw the chocolate goat cheese and vodka truffles in the Ocean Vodka gift shop (their neighbor) while I was visiting and I knew I had to get me some of those as well! Oh yeah, and there are baby goats! Surfing Goat Farms is a working goat dairy farm that offers tours and … [Read more...]

Maui – Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop

After a full day of farm tours, on my last evening in Maui driving back to the Napili Kai Beach Resort I hit up Leoda's Kitchen & Pie Shop for dinner (and dessert). I had that little voice in my head that prevented me from just eating [sweet] pie for so I ordered the Hamakua mushroom pie pictured above.  It was my last chance to have Hamakua mushrooms for who knows how long and I am glad I … [Read more...]

Maui – Ocean Vodka Farm

After a lovely morning at the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm I headed to the farm at Ocean Vodka to learn how this popular organic vodka is made. The farm offers a tour and tasting of their vodka for $10 a person with really entertaining tour guides. They grow 30 kinds of organic sugarcane on their 80 acres and do the entire production and bottling on site. There are a number of varieties of … [Read more...]

Maui – Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm

After a glorious day of doing absolutely nothing...well, that isn't quite accurate...I had breakfast with the lovely Di from Napili Kai Beach Resort and dinner at the Sea House Restaurant followed by the Slack Key Show, but during the day I sat on my gorgeous terrace with my laptop catching up on things and just enjoyed the view and the breeze and the bay. After that relaxing day I had 'une … [Read more...]

Maui – Napili Kai Beach Resort

After five truly enlightening day on the Big Island, I departed for my next adventures in Maui.  My home-base for the next few days was the Napili Kai Beach Resort, a place that was completely unknown to me prior to this trip. As I mentioned before, I visited Maui in 2008 for a week in between jobs and had basically only traveled from the airport to my hotel in Kaanapali.  And with exception of … [Read more...]
