We are in the height of our gorgeous San Francisco Indian summer, a time that Mr. Misadventures and I are usually traveling elsewhere, so it has been a real joy to spend the gorgeous days here. If all goes well next year we will be in Italy at this time, so we are making sure we enjoy or rare October.
It has also been excellent weather to check out food trucks and I wonder how the approaching winter will impact their presence in the city. One thing for certain is that the weekend farmer’s markets are an absolute pleasure to visit and if you are in San Francisco on a Saturday the one at the Ferry Building is a must. I hope the weather stays like this a little longer, but it usually rains every year on Halloween which seems (crossed fingers) unlikely this year because of the weather has been so great!
I know the same can’t be said for other spots in the world, so if you ar stuck inside due to rain or snow, I hope checking out this week’s Saturday Six picks will keep you entertained:
Despite Andi Perullo of My Beautiful Adventures amazing posts on visiting India it is not really a place I have been interested in visiting (except maybe Goa). I was surprised to read that neither was Kristin of Camels & Chocolate. However it seems she was quickly converted after spending a few days there during her Semester At Seas adventures and I wonder if I might not have to add to the list of places I might need to visit. Kristin even offers a traveling tip to ensure that the foodie in me can partake of the wonderfully diverse food in India while potentially warding off any stomach issues, check it out in “Incredible India.”
More my style are lazy walks around Paris. I have to admit it took many, many trips to realize this. It is a lesson I learn after spending initial trips in Paris trying to see everything and then realizing the best parts can be seen by simply slowing down and taking it in. This is something the wonderfully wise Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland learned as well as she reminisces about her “first Paris” in her guest post on Haven in Paris.
On Lindsey’s own blog (Lost in Cheeseland) she continues to spotlight Francophiles from all over the world in her Franco File Friday series. I love the series because it provides a more detailed view of the person behind the person who loves France. This week she features Amy Thomas, who along with Tory Hoen, often expresses her “feelings” for Paris in such a way that I feel like I am saying them! Amy recently spent two years in Paris before returning to New York and has a book coming out soon about her obsession – desserts!
Paris is a dream for many, one that is often unachievable because of budget constraints. But once you are there in the city, you can find ways to enjoy it on a shoestring budget, as Linda Donahue of Parisien Salon shares in her post this week.
One question many travelers are asked is about their travel bucket list. And like Matt of Landlopers, I don’t really believe in them. However, if you put a gun to my head I could come up with an answer! And while it did not come to that extreme for Matt, he did share of few places that he wants to see in his post “My Travel Wish List.”
Each time I have been to Atlanta it has been for very quick business trips and I have not had an opportunity to explore this Southern city. Andi Perullo of My Beautiful Adventures blogged about her recent trip there and besides the beautiful photos she took, she has convinced me that I need to take more time the next time I am there to visit the zoo or the World of Coca-Cola!
A few housekeeping items:
- I will be participating in the BootsnAll 30 days of Indie Travel project. There will be a daily prompt about traveling and I am looking forward to sharing more travel tales. Check it out and participate if you can!
- Come back Tuesday (well…come back everyday) as I will be participating in a group-blog giveaway of $250 – who couldn’t use that for the holidays?
- I will be trying out a new series this coming Friday. It is food focused (my second obsession) and should be a lot of fun.
That it’s for this week!
How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share?
