Saturday Six #40 on Sunday

I know, I know. I just got finished telling you that I did not have time for a Saturday Six and here I am doing just that! I blasted through my to-do list and I didn’t have a post ready for today, so I thought, “why not?”

Just a disclaimer, I did not get a chance to read through all my blog favs on my reader, so there may be some posts out there that I will highlight for the next Saturday Six on October 23rd.

So let’s talk about what I did find:

[1] Blogging bud Alisa of Project Happily Ever After just got back from nine days in Italy (I’m jealous…) And as I know well, a trip like that makes for great blog posts!  She comes back with a bang with her first post, “What Italy Taught Me About Happiness” and it is really, really good.  Also I am reading an advanced copy of her new book and I can’t wait until it is available for everyone else to read.  You can pre-order it though – go do that, trust me, if you are married, it is a must read!

[2] I love FoodGal, not only is she a San Fran girl, but she gets to go to a ton of great restaurants and food events, which she then blogs about.  Plus she gets to interview a ton of great chefs, both established and up-and-coming, even future Iron Chefs! This week, with perfect timing for a certain new movie, she went “inside the cafe at Facebook headquarters” and I have to say I might consider working there just for the food!

[3] I have decided I want to be Swedish and part of Julochka of Moments of Perfect Clarity‘s family in particular!  She has a yearly crayfish gathering, apparently a Swedish tradition.  If you are a fan of crustaceans I dare you not to look at that first photo and not want to dive into that bowl!

[4] Such a fabulous reminder this week on Zen Habitsyou are already perfect just the way your are.  There are two really poignant statements that I think everybody needs to keep in the back of their head all the time:

“You’re already good enough, you already have more than enough, and you’re already perfect.” AND “You already have everything you need to be happy, right here and right now.”

I say AMEN to that!

[5] Love this article from the Seattle Post Intelligencer about great places to experience frenchiness on the West Coast.  One of them happens to be in my home town of Berkeley and I have to say good call on their part.  Kermitt Lynch is a great, no fantastic, wine store where all wines are imported from France, Italy, etc.  The store is unique in that Mr. Lynch does not carry any California wine, a big statement since we are right next store to Napa Valley!  Mr. Lynch hosts tons of events bringing great food and great French wine together, they are not to be missed.  He also writes a blog, Inspiring Thirst.

[6] I am all about simplifying life and apparently Tara Bradford is too. She shared a great post with three very meaningful reminders that can help you do that.

Well that’s it for this week’s addition.  There will be no Saturday Sixes, even on Sunday, for the next two weeks.  I will restart the series when I return from vacation.

  4. Thanks for the shout-out. Believe you me, when I ate at the Facebook cafe, I was ready to sign up for a job there. I’d sweep the floors or answer the phones just to eat Chef Desimone’s dishes every day. 😉
