I am writing this post from the lovely Vancouver, British Columbia. The hotel I am staying in, the Westin Bayshore, overlooks the harbor and the view is gorgeous. Will post more on my trip next week. For now let’s talk about my picks for this week.
I have grouped them together into little themes because I always find it fascinating to look back at the end of the week at the posts that I have pasted into my draft. Some weeks there are natural groupings, others it is a melange.
My pal Alisa goes through life trying to be a better person. She is living her life as best she can, an authentic one, a livable one. She has gotten to where she is now by attacking and embracing multiple aspects of her life, breaking them into digestible, doable parts. She has improved her marriage and she shares how on her blog and in her new book coming out in December.
She is improving her life by studying Buddhism and by working with a life coach. By sharing with her community, everyone benefits. But she is quick to tell you she is only human, and that she often makes mistakes, her honesty is another reason to love her. She wrote a post this week about being Buddhist but not vegetarian. I felt like her words were my words. But then that’s the beautiful thing about Alisa.
Stephanie of La Belle in France wrote a charming post that most francophiles can relate to. By the way is there such thing as a Parisphile? There should be! In any case, the sentiment she expressed mimic my thoughts on a near daily basis.
I met Lucrecer in the elevator at Blissdom in 2009. We exchanged blogging cards and I have been reading her daily every since. She does beautiful art journaling and is a wonderful photographer. I firmly believe happiness is a state of mind, it is how I choose to live my life everyday and that is exactly what Lucrecer shared in her post that describes exactly how she does that as well.
That blogging thing we do
Jennifer at Curiosity Quotient highlighted a post by The Pioneer Woman on the things she has learned about blogging. I don’t read TPW on a regular basis, but I really, really enjoyed her post. She is a talented writer and I admire the post.
Kelly, writing at Cleavage very poignantly shared her feeling on why we write. I have stated many times that this blog, my passion for writing here every day, and the joy it brings came to me by surprise. I realized a need that I did not know I had and writing everyday fulfills that need. It is therapy, even for a happy person and the community of bloggers and the support they provide is amazing.
Food (a cheat!)
I am cheating because I am combining three food posts into my final Saturday Six pick. I am obsessed with food! I love it. I love to plan meals. I love to read about food. I love looking at food photos. Food! I live through my stomach and these three lovely ladies (plus the ladies at LUNCH) feed my hunger.
New pal Carolyn of Food Gal is right in my own backyard and she every restaurants she reviews in San Francisco gets added to my list of must-tries. This week she highlighted a sandwich shop I am going to try next week.
Cathy at Noble Pig often has recipes that make my eyes cross (plus she recently wrote about an island in the San Juan Islands that I have had my eye on). But this week she has Pork & Mushroom Stew Served Over Apple-Potato Mash and that has got my name all over it. I am a stew girl and this one looks like heaven.
I tweeted that I wanted to dive head first into the crab claws in the photo from Gourmet Chick‘s post on her trip to Norway. I am hoping for something similar when I am on the western coast of France!
Well that’s it for this week. How about you? Have any posts you want to share?
