Saturday Six #110

Saturday Six on Misadventures with AndiWell this week flew by! July and August were a bit quiet after the insane June that I had. I made a quick trip to the Los Angeles area at the beginning of the week and I have just been plugging away head’s down the rest of the week. With my hubby gone I am trying to power through a whole bunch of blog posts that I have been wanting to get done, but I have a lot of other things to take care of as well…ah those balls constantly in the air.  If I had kids I know it would be a thousand times worse!

As if I didn’t have enough on my plate with a full time job, daily blogging as well as tweeting, I also started two Tumblrs! One is more artistic one called Hotel Hallways where I take black and white photos of the hallways in the hotels I stay, launched back in April.  And a new one recently launched is called Food Truck Chronicles. I just eat at way too many food trucks to share them here, it would turn into a food truck blog which I don’t want.  So instead I started another food truck blog and I will do most of my posts there.  I will still post about food trucks here from time to time.

Never boring right?

Someone else who has a million balls in the air AND has kids is one of my blogging BFFs Jennifer of JenX67.  Besides a flourishing blog where she posts daily (sometimes more than daily) she is highly active on Facebook, has her own segment on a local radio station and does PR work (among other things) for the Oklahomans for the Arts , plus she has 3 kids!

But she is always up to doing more including being a calming force as I go through my redesign project! She also recently launched a new endeavor that showcases her amazing photography called Photos & Generations (more on that in a future post).

In any case Jen is on fire as in evident by the fact when I looked at the links I had posted in my draft for this week’s Saturday Six, three out of the six are from her!  Sometimes you are just in the same groove which seems to be the case this week. Let’s see what they are:

[1] As I have mentioned many times before, I am a huge movie fan.  I come from a family of movie nuts.  My parents still go all the time and Mr. Misadventures and I try to go several times a month.  We also watch a ton of movies at home. I am fond of nearly every genre and era of films which is why I loved this post from Jennifer that shared 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s Film Alphabet Posters – so cool!  What are your favorites?

[2] Did you make mixed tapes growing up? I certainly did! Which is why Jennifer’s artist homage to mixed tapes was so fun.  Sort of brought back some great memories!

[3] I don’t really have an official bucket list, but if I did have one driving Route 66 would be on it.  Mr. Misadventures and I have certainly discussed it.  Jennifer just got back from spending some time on it and took some fabulous photos.  It is very inspiring. She also raises a good point about proximity and taking things for granted.  I work in San Francisco and live very close to this beautiful city but I don’t nearly spend enough time in it or take advantage of all the wonderful things to visit that are so close.  I promised myself when I moved back from France that I would appreciate it more and I need to do a better job of that. Jen’s post is a good reminder.

[4] I have definitely missed out on doing things like visiting one of the most famous fortune cookie companies right in Chinatown.  Thank goodness this adorable post from Oh Happy Day reminded me! I am going to go soon!

[5] And back to having or not having bucket lists, I was deeply touched by this post from Spencer of The Traveling Philosopher who wrote about grabbing hold of what inspires you and going for it.   As Spencer wrote: “Make an investment into what you’re passionate about and what makes you come alive.”  Yes!

[6] I have been anxiously waiting for some of the people I nominated in my Capture the Colour entry post to complete their posts.  I selected some really talented photographers with huge catalogues of photos at their disposal so their entries can not be anything but awesome. Which is precisely what Kristin of Camels & Chocolate‘s is!  Her selection of photos are amazing!  Interested? You still have two weeks to do your own entry (don’t wait to be nominated!) the deadline is August 29th, you can find more info on the website.

That’s it for this week!

How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share? How do you discover new blogs?

  1. Girl, you started two more blogs? Are you insane? You clearly are like me and don’t like having a second of spare time, ha. I will follow them with my (not-so-anymore) secret Tumblr account 😉

  2. Andi – You amaze me. Thank you for your generosity. You’re the only person who knows how hard I work at this blog thing. I think about you all the time, and I wonder what we’ll say 10 years from now. Remember when…I hope blogging is still fun and dynamic then. You are a jewel!
