(Not quite) Wordless Wednesday #216 – An Italian Spritz

It is now summer in San Francisco. Happens every October. It will be warm (hot for me) and gorgeous until Halloween and then it will rain!

Warm weather like we are having now makes me long for ‘spritz’s’ which I drank many of on my trip to Italy.  Such a wonderfully refreshing drink that people have as an apero before dinner.  It is addictingly delicious!

Here is a recipe from The Kitchn – I plan on making some this weekend!

    This drink reminds me of a “Cranberry” coast ( Dry sherry with cranberry juice): Refreshing and not too sweet.

    I am happy that it is so nice for you there now. I love the rain but to much of it makes me depressed. I need to see the sun shine

      @Linda, it is already cold! Hopefully it will only last a day or two and then we will be back to our Indian summer!

    I love Spritz and make them at home with my sodastream. I don;t drink alcohol so this is a great way to make wonderful drinks for the family!

    I just mix fruit juice and seltzer water. I have used fresh fruit juice and seltzer, kool aid and seltzer, etc. My sons and I love lemonade or limeade and seltzer. Cherry and seltzer or blood orange and seltzer is amazing also!! Always add sugar to sweeten!

  15. I don’t remember the last time I had a spritz. I’m usually aiming for a sangria that’s just crisp in flavor and not overly sweet.

  18. I tried a spritz when I was in Venice this summer and I actually wasn’t much of a fan. Perhaps it was the sad Airport Hampton Inn lounge that I was sitting in stranded with 3 kids, not enough money to take a taxi, and no other restaurants in walking distance. Your experience sounds much better. I need to give it another try with that recipe you linked to.

    I need to try that drink. I don’t mind when it rains, its usually overcast so it’s easy on the eyes.
