Monthly Blog Goals: March 2017

Monthly Blog Goals March 2017 Blog

I may not be doing a lot of discovering of Portland or exercise, but the third leg of the triangle known as Project Discover is getting plenty of attention. I am currently spending a nice chunk of the day working on some aspect of my blog, including social media, SEO and affiliate marketing.

I’m not going to say much more than that because this is the first post that I will both review my previous month’s goals as well as detail the goals for the current month and it could make the post too long if I get any wordier!

Review - February Goals
Here’s what I set myself up for in February. You can see the whole post here.

1. Blog twice a week.
Nailed it. I actually blogged three times a week and I might get up to four.

2. Work on driving traffic.
I did get a lot of social media scheduled. I set-up dlvr.it to help with Twitter. Tailwind is saving when it comes to Pinterest. Facebook and Google+ I do on the fly, but I need to set-up more updates on Facebook to be more consistent.  I joined a few joint blogger giveaways which will help put Misadventures with Andi in front of new eyes.

3. Work on building traffic.
I updated two posts. I would like to do at least one a week.

4. Work on finding traffic.
I didn’t make much progress on this.

5. Revitalize my newsletter.
I thought about it but didn’t do anything. But see the reason below.

6. Think about my “offering.”
I finally came up with my offer for new subscribers! It came to me suddenly over this past weekend. I will create it and then send it out to all current newsletter subscribers and get a more regular schedule going.

7. Start building my Portland network.
I thought about it. I started to do it a few times but didn’t end up sending out the emails I needed. Fail.

8. Update online accounts.
Ongoing, but I think I am getting there.

9. Pay it forward.
I didn’t always get to commenting on three a day, but I made up for it on other days.  I’ve discovered a few new blogs that I really like as well as keeping up with old favorites!

My March Goals

This month I want to continue with more of the same.

1. Blog three times a week.
I have so many posts to write, getting to a consistent three times a week should not be an issue.

2. Work on driving and building traffic.
Now that I have set a baseline, I want to create more Pinterest images for my own posts.  I want to update an old post once a week, freshening the images, links, reviewing SEO and adding affiliate links where appropriate.

3. Create my “offering.”

Now that I know what I want to do as my offering, I want to get it created in the month of March.

4. Revitalize my newsletter.

If I complete my offer I can send it out to current subscribers and start sending out a more consistent newsletter.

5. Start building my Portland network.
Send out my interview questions to identified bloggers. Contact two bloggers for IRL meetings.

6. Pay it forward.

Read and comment on three blogs every day.

I’d like to come up with a few more, but as my main priority at the moment is finding work, I need to focus my efforts and energy there.

How about you? Any of these goals resonate with you? Do you create and track your own goals? If you blog about it, share your latest post about it, I’d love to see it!

  1. I’m with you when it comes to building traffic. As a blogger, all I want to do is share informative stories to an audience that could benefit from it! I love your list of goals… it’s inspiring and also, relieving to see that other bloggers have the same insights and goals!

  2. Congrats on the goals you made. Have to celebrate the small things. I really enjoy reading what other bloggers are working on and accomplishing. It’s encouraging! Good luck with March goals!

  3. It’s so great to make goals. It can be hard to drive traffic to your blog. To be honest, I just started just focusing on putting out quality content that I’d want to read myself. Thank you for being honest about your achievements and shortcomings.

  4. It’s always interesting to see what methods other bloggers are using. Sometimes I wonder if any of us have any idea what we are doing! Haha! The information varies sooo much from blogger to blogger. I think eventually we all realize that what works for one does not work for others! Whatever is working…just keep doing it! 😀

  5. I love the idea of listing out monthly goals every month. It’s a great way to stay accoutable and ensure I am on track. I am always trying to increase and build traffic to the blog. Pinterest is big, but I am still working on automating my work there.

@Jenn, there is so much to do, right!? But if we tick away at it piece by piece it somehow seems manageable!

  6. Those are great monthly blogging goals. I normally do yearly goals but I love the idea of breaking it down monthly as it will be less overwhelming and also more attainable. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck on meeting your goals!

    • Andi Fisher says:

@Melissa, oh I am so glad you got a little inspiration from me! It would be fun to track yearly ones as well.

  7. Reading and commenting on three blogs a day sounds doable. That is a great idea to see and learn from other writers in enhancing what we do as bloggers/writers.

    • Andi Fisher says:

@Stephanie, I used to read so many more, but life is so busy, I want to at least commit to three!

  8. I always like to set goals as well and i think setting small monthly goals is a great way to stay motivated!

  9. I really like reading what others are doing – I’m trying hard to promote my stuff/social media etc but I’m also on the road full time and pushing myself to do at least four blog-related things a week. Thanks for inspiring me!!

@Sarah, it can be so tough when you are on the road. I thought I would have more time, but I actually had less!

  10. You’e got some great goals. I think you’ll do great in achieving them this month! I also ways think it’s fun to “peek” on what other bloggers are doing. It inspires me to do more on my own blog.

  11. I’ve recently started goals for my Blog and it’s made such a difference in engagement, as well as my own personal engagement and motivation!

@Lisa, I’m so glad to hear that, it’s only my second month so I hope it keeps me motivated as well!

  12. Interesting goals! I’ve been doing some of this myself, mainly trying to build from SEO and pinterest. It’s good to see what other bloggers are up to as well, provides good motivation for myself!

  13. I need to work on creating more goals for my blog. I’ve been focused on writing my manuscript and the blog inched off the priority list but I don’t want to let it go too far off track. Your goals list has definitely inspired me to sit down and figure something out. Thanks for sharing.

    • Andi Fisher says:

@Carin, well I can understand why a manuscript would take priority over your blog. I wish you the best of luck!

  14. Girl you and I are on the same page! I have finally dusted off the ol’ newsletter and sent it out this morning. I only have about 1200 on my list, but it’s a start! I really need to work on growing it and like you, scheduling my social in advance. I AM SO BAD at it!

    • Andi Fisher says:

@Heather, 1200 is fantastic, got to keep that going! I’m trying my best to get my kickstarted this month!

  15. I read your post because I am struggling with my blog posting. The startup that was supposed to beta in late December is still not ready and as a result I have had to spend more time with developers and less time writing content (plus very few would see it anyway as I’m not ready to promote the site properly)
Sharing your goals is brave and also a great way to keep you (and your audience motivated) nice job. Have you considered a Mastermind group? Either in-person or a virtual group?
Let me know if I can connect you to a group (this is not a sales pitch)
    Ronan

  16. Your goals inspire me to reconnect with my blog. My job and kids have me so busy, for the first time it feels like my blog is literally taking in water and going down. It makes me sad. Thanks for the list!!

    • @Jen, just think how fun it will be to go back to your blog when you can tear yourself away. You can also have guest bloggers from Gen X era to fill in the gap.
