I was set-up on a blind date, a suggestion of blogging pal Food Gal. She thought the two of us might be perfect for each other.
We selected our first date, a meal at my local hangout, Cafe Rouge.
And with the first shot it was love at first click.
You see for many months, likely a year, I have been a frustrated artist. As I have become more and more interested in photography I have also become more and more disappointed in the photos I was taking. What I envisioned on my canvas was never fully achieved.
I am enamored by the detail. Close-ups. Textures, etc. I do like the sweeping shots of Paris, etc. But I love the tiny detail of food, of patterns on a door, the reflection in a window. Photos I was not able to capture on a regular basis.
I reached out to a few food bloggers and found a common response: “get a 50mm.” So Mr. Misadventures and I rented a Zeiss 50 mm macro lens for his Canon body and took it to our local cantine.
If you look at the photo of the chicken above you will see liquid droplets, that is not grease but juice, a detail that I had not been able to capture before! The photographs depict what I imagine in my head. These are the types of food pictures that resonate with me. Pictures of food that entice and show detail.
I have found the tool that makes my creative soul sing. Oh you 50 mm, you complete me.
P.S. I have absolutely no idea I think that this particular item which has completed me is of a feminine nature, but we are going with it……
