It’s Oscars® Week!

Oscars-Week-on-Misaventures-with-AndiToday I am heading to Los Angeles for the week leading up to the Academy Awards® show (tune in live on Oscar Sunday, Feb 24th 7 EST/4PST).  I’ll be on the ground all week as a roving reporter for my employer. Bonus is, I’ll be sharing here too!  I am interrupting regular format content (for the most part) to bring you a daily update on my adventures (or misadventures).  Technically speaking, I am *traveling* to Los Angeles so it still counts!

There will be no fancy dress for me as I walk on the red carpet, I won’t step one toe on it (at least on Sunday)!  I won’t get to see all of the audio improvements that have been made since the last time I was inside the Dolby Theatre, because I won’t be in there!  Nope my spot for that day will be in the bleachers right near the red carpet.  I am going to be tweeting and instagramming on behalf of the company I work for (follow me and others at #DolbyTheatre to keep up on the action).  I will of course also be posting to my own Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (and if I find decent food Foodspotting as well!) so catch me in those spots too!

However the week leading up to that (next week), I will be out and about all over the Hollywood and Highland complex where all the set-up action is taking place.  There are plenty of other activities going on and I will be sharing what I am up to every day. If you aren’t into all the award show stuff (I totally respect that!) then tune back in the week of February 25th for more “regular” content.

To say I am excited would be an understatement, but if you think it is all glamor and glitz, you might want to read the post I did for Camels & Chocolate on my day of work at the GRAMMYs rehearsals, it will give you a little insight on what it is really like. Then times that by a factor of 7 because instead of one day it is seven!

Another thing I am going to enjoy is creating albums with the WideAngle app that I am Beta-testing.  Between my own photos and photos I’ll be grabbing from the folks I will be in the bleachers with, I am sure the album I create will be pretty cool! (In the meantime, their “Love is” contest is still going on, I’m participating as well…you have a chance to win a camera!)

How about you? Who would you most want to get close to on the red carpet?  Who are you particularly looking forward to seeing?

  1. Sounds like fun, when you take out the work part!!!

  2. What an adventure. I don’t follow the oscars or any awards much. I know. I’m antisocial with all that. 🙂 ha

  3. GayAnn Wright says:

I love the Oscars. I follow all the award shows during this time of year.
I’d love to have an Oscar party. I get way more excited about it than superbowl.

  4. That is so neat & so so exciting! I just like to watch, they’re fun and I love seeing all the dresses they choose!

  5. carla bonesteel says:

Even though you’ll be in the bleachers, I’m jealous! I’m totally starstruck and I would LOVE to be doing what you are doing!

  6. My cousin attends a dinner given to reporters, journalists etc…every year. He works for ‘Voice of America’…I have a picture of last year when he attended at The Beverly Hills Hotels…he was there at the dinner when Whitney Houston died.

  7. Michelle E says:

    Celebraties are fun

  8. I am jealous!
It’s my dream to go but instead I host an evening where we compete to guess the winners for prizes accompanied with movie trivia during commercials and sparkling wine with themed appetizers for each of my favourite films nominated.

    • @Murissa, I have never had an Oscars party – it sounds like a blast. I was speaking with someone a few days ago who said they even dressed up for it!

  9. How fun! Have a great time!

  10. Wendy Mastin says:

How exciting your life is. Hope you leave with great memories.

  11. That sounds like a really interesting, but EXHAUSTING work week! Have as much fun as you can anyway 😉

  12. Christina Kelbel says:

that’s awesome! I’m jealous, that sounds very exciting. I love award shows, would be awesome to experience that energy surrounding them first hand.

  13. I LOVE THE OSCARS!!! I went twice, and wore the same dress both times lol. I have to say, I spent ten years covering every red carpet under the sun in both NYC and LA. But the day I picked up my Oscar credentials blew me away — I thought I was jaded in general, but no. I was SO excited! I was speechless, and the sheer enormity of that carpet… I kept my press pass for years and lost it only in this recent move to Vegas. I still hope to someday find it, along with other keepsakes from that now long-ago period of my life. Have an awesome time! I can’t wait to watch Sunday knowing you’re there!

  14. This will be such an awesome experience, I’m sure. Bundle up, though! It might be a bit cold/chilly. Can’t wait to read your tweets. 🙂

  15. I am not a huge fan of television pats on the back, but my daughter loves them so we are having an Oscar Party for her and her friend. This should be interesting.

  16. Even though it will be a lot of work, sounds very exciting and glamorous! Enjoy it. I’m uber jealous.

  17. How exciting have a great time!

  18. I don’t follow the awards but I’d be excited to be up close and personal. I hope you have a great time.
