Weekly Wanderings #7 – Gold Canyon

Well the first leg of our trip, 6 weeks on the road is over!  And we made it without any issue, unless you count the lack of fresh vegetables as an issue (and I do). We spent three wonderful weeks in Borrego Springs and a little over three weeks in three places in New Mexico: Las Cruces, Santa Fe and Kirtland. On Saturday, we drove from Kirtland to Flagstaff and stayed at a really nice KOA for … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #6 – Kirtland

We left Santa Fe on Sunday and headed to Kirtland (New Mexico) where we've been all week.  We are in the four corners region. The four corners being the spot where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah meet. There is nothing here. EXCEPT some great badlands called the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness, an amazing rock formation called Shiprock (which reminds me of Monument Valley) and a national park … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #5 – Santa Fe

What a week! We landed in Santa Fe last Friday and the days have flown by! I got caught up on a lot of blog writing over a couple of days in Las Cruces so I have been out and about more with Mr. Misadventures and I am exhausted, but in a good way! Food, glorious food!  We have a Trader Joe's, two Whole Foods and the Santa Fe Farmer's Market, and we can once again bbq since the lovely RV park we … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #4 – Las Cruces

We left for Santa Fe this morning after staying one week in Las Cruces. We will be in Santa Fe for two weeks and I am going to take advantage of the opportunity to catch-up on some really good restaurant eating! But first Las Cruces. We arrived last Friday after spending the night in a really great KOA in Tucson. Not  a place I would want to spend more than a couple days in, but it was … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #3 – Borrego Springs

Surprise! We're in Las Cruces, New Mexico! Our original plan was to leave for Santa Fe on Sunday, but because of snow that was supposed to be coming through (a huge thing to avoid with RVs) we left on Thursday for Las Cruces staying overnight in Tucson to take a more southern, milder weather route.  We shuffled a few reservations and will spend five days in Las Cruces exploring the famous white … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #2 – Borrego Springs

Yes, it is odd to have rusted dinosaurs randomly placed around a town, but that's what we've got at Borrego Springs! Dinosaurs, saber tooth tigers, wooly mammoths, velociraptors on top of the horses, turtles, camels and bighorn sheep. All created by the late Ricardo Broceda.  Makes for fun photos. During our second week in Borrego Springs and the second week of Project Escape, we have visited … [Read more...]

Weekly Wanderings #1 – Borrego Springs

Last Friday, January 15th was the official start of Project Escape, our year long adventure to escape corporate America; the expensive and crowded state of California; and reorient our life a bit. January 1 would have been a much cooler date to start, but with our Thanksgiving trip to France (to explain to my mother-in-law what the hell we would be doing the next year); an unexpected return trip … [Read more...]

Inside our RV Sneak Peek

Mr. Misadventures promises that once we get better light (it has been overcast and raining the last couple of days) that he will take professional photos of the interior of the RV.  In the meantime, I have taken a few shots with my iPhone, enough to allow a sneak peek and give you a "design" update. We purchased a Tiffin Phaeton Class A Motorhome, our interior floor plan model is a 40 AH (as in … [Read more...]

Rest Stops, Ignition Keys and Slideouts

I promise I will come up with more original titles going forward, or hire my friend Katie of Domestiphobia who always writes killer, pull-you-right-in headlines! As I mentioned in my ‘Visiting the WeightMaster’ post, we had a very harrowing unplanned second trip from San Francisco to Phoenix. When we left San Francisco the first time we definitely did not plan to return, at least for a … [Read more...]

Visiting the WeightMaster

After moving our remaining household goods to the Phoenix area for storage (reason 1, the cost was 1/3 what we paid in California for double the space and reason 2, my parents live here and can keep an eye on it while we are on the road the next year) we spent the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas unpacking boxes and packing up the cargo area and interior of our RV. We loaded up the … [Read more...]
