J’adore #53

J'adore on Misadventures with AndiI am not a big shopper which is why I tend to do virtual shopping, and if I can buy something online I will. J’adore is my way of collecting the things I think are cool, things I spot in my online travels. From time to time I do actually buy a few things and share what I like.

My tendency is to buy from small locally-owned businesses, women-owned if I can, so by sharing a little about them here, they get just a tiny bit more exposure.

Today I have a mixture of both.

With Mr. Misadventures being French you can imagine that there are always at least 10 cheeses in the house!  We don’t have a cheese box, like a lot of people do in France, so we simply store our cheese in our fridge.  That is not optimal so we are always looking for ways to keep the cheese as happy as possible.  I bought this cheese storage paper from Formaticum and it really works great.  We’ve tried wax paper in the past, but this works better.  If you keep a lot of cheeses in the house, consider this product.

Cheese-storage-bagsWe are pretty sure that Mr. Misadventures was a bear in a former life. He can eat salmon every single day and loves honey like no one else I have ever seen. He is also big on maple syrup, but instead of waffles or pancakes he puts it in yogurt or with his cereal…yes, I know…a bit quirky.  Also, he eats a lot of fruit and at least once a week alcohol goes into the mix with his fruit.  So when I saw this Tahitian vanilla bean syrup aged in a Tuthilltown Bourbon barrel from Noble Handcrafted Maple Syrups on Food 52 it sort of had his name written all over it!

Everyone seems to have one five bags that all look the same.  Having a distinct tag that reflects your personality is not only fun, but makes your bag easier to spot!

Another gadget that I love for the road and in particular the airplane is the Keyprop from Integral.  They have other fun products that I have my eye on like portable chopsticks, but I have a Keyprop and think it is pretty cool. I use this at a restaurant when I am eating by myself and on planes to prop up my phone to read email or watch videos (I don’t always bring my iPad on every trip).  It comes in a ton of colors, of course you all know my preference when it comes to any gadget….red!

I was never your typical white wedding kind of girl.  Neither one of my “weddings” was traditional.  I did have invitations for the reception for my first wedding, but I didn’t really like them. I selected an invite from a wedding invitation site and they were boring, boring, boring.  It seems these days there are so many vehicles available to brides-to-be or event planners in general to make their invites totally personal and unique.

I think Big Fat Geek Wedding is one of those ways.  Launched by long time reader and Parisian blogger, Chris Smith (who also happens to work at the awesome Sugar Daze cupcake shop in Paris!) this site offers people a way to create their own invites, placeholders, nametags, etc with pre-created templates, or work with Chris to create something custom.  Chris is really talented and I plan on working with her on some custom work myself!

lovers_adventureThat’s it for this edition of J’adore, a few my my recent favorite finds as I travel the web!
