This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pharmaca.
If you have been reading Misadventures with Andi for any length of time you will know I am passionate about food. In addition, despite my aversion to exercise, I do try to live a healthy lifestyle by balancing my diet by via moderation and choosing foods that are as organic or as natural as possible.
I am also a big fan of homeopathic medicines, which I developed an appreciation for while working in Switzerland. When I would go to a pharmacy with a prescription from a doctor, or to find medicine for an ailment, the pharmacist would ask me if I wanted traditional or homeopathic medicine. My Swiss insurance would cover both, so I had a choice and I chose homeopathic. It is why I am a huge fan of Boiron who has made homeopathics much more mainstream in the U.S.
I am extremely lucky to live in the San Francisco Bay Area where obtaining all natural medicines, herbs and supplements are readily available in many stores in my neighborhood including Pharmaca. Unlike some of the other stores that I have access to, this one feels small. Like my local neighborhood pharmacy. The same feel I got while working in Switzerland and living in France.
If you visit a city in Europe and visit a pharmacy you will understand what I mean.
So when Pharmaca reached out to me to visit one of their stores and write about the experience I was game.
During my in-store visit I took the opportunity to review supplements that I was looking to try. I take digestive enzymes on a daily basis and have been picking up green juices from The Juice Shop because I like the detox aspects from drinking them. So the Vitamineral Green supplements caught my attention. When I am having a crazy work day and can’t get to the juice shop, I have started substituting with these vitamins.
From time to time when I am feeling a little on the heavier side, I go back to focusing on Weight Watchers and add a weight loss supplement. I am not talking about those crazy diet pills that kill people with heart-attacks! I choose something like one of the Genesis Today Pure Green Coffee Bean options that are made with all natural ingredients and aren’t a substitute for real food!
Those are just two items that I picked up and enjoyed at Pharmaca, I also purchased witch hazel which I love to use as a toner for my face and some Burt’s Bees products because I love their acne products, they are more natural and work wonders on my skin for blemishes that pop up from time to time.
I know that not everyone is lucky enough to have a physical store close by and I have to tell you their online site is really great too with a large variety of products that will meet your health and well-being needs. I also like their blog that has articles for every interest, including travel! Like this travel first aid post. They have others on cooking, beauty, health – they resonate with me so I come back often.
If you live in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon or Washington and would like the opportunity to win a $50 gift card to use at one of their stores then I am happy to oblige (thanks to the generosity of Pharamca!).
Just leave a comment about your favorite pharmacy experience. It can be a service story, a product story, a travel story. Pharmacies are such fun places to visit to observe a bit of the local environment! If you don’t have a story then tell me your favorite pharmacy product and why?
You have until midnight September 4th (that’s a Wednesday) to enter. I will use Random.org to select a winner.
Good luck and thank you Pharmaca for sponsoring my visit and my giveaway!
And if the giveaway isn’t enough incentive, consider leaving a comment! For every comment left on Misadventures with Andi during the month of May, I will donate 50 cents to Oklahomans for the Arts.
