Forget chocolates and roses, Valentine’s Day is the perfect chance to explore new and romantic locations. Across the world there are countless heart-warming destinations to choose from, whether you prefer the cobbled streets of Paris or the beautiful beaches of Australia.
With this in mind here is a look at some of the most romantic locations to make February 14th a truly special occasion.
Positano, Italy

Italy’s Amalfi coastline features some of the most stunning ocean views in the world. What better location to soak up the sunshine than the glamorous seaside city of Positano? The town is a photographer’s dream, combining terracotta houses, winding streets and breathtakingly blue waters.
You and your partner could spend February 14th perusing the local markets and jewellery stores, followed by dinner at one of the countless waterfront restaurants. Finish the day by retiring to a luxurious boutique hotel to watch the sunset from your personal balcony with a glass of champagne.
Bath, UK

The UK also has plenty to offer when it comes to romantic getaway destinations. The fascinating historic city of Bath is an excellent example, combining beautiful architecture, quaint streets and an endless choice of shops and cafés. Be sure to also check out what’s playing at the Theatre Royal, or keep an eye out on Bath’s busy festival and events schedule.
Active couples should bring their walking shoes, with the city and surrounding countryside offering plenty of attractions to see by foot. Or if you’re looking to relax, make the most of Bath’s heritage as a spa city by booking at one of the many luxurious spa hotels.
Paris, France

It might seem like a cliché to suggest Paris, but this city of love has well and truly earned its reputation. The French capital offers a heady mix of great wine, beautiful architecture and sumptuous food – the perfect combination for a truly romantic Valentine’s Day.
Couples should start their day with a trip to the local farmer’s market to pick up a baguette and some delicious cheese for their lunch. Take a stroll through the hillside district of Monmartre for stunning views of the city, followed by a cruise along the River Seine. Finally end your day with a trip to the theatre or a cheeky cabaret show at the Crazy Horse.
Palm Cove, Queensland
Australia is well loved for its stunning coastlines, yet some of the nation’s beaches are a class above the rest. For Sydneysiders that means Bronte, while for people dating in Adelaide who are looking for a romantic spot, can’t do better than Glenelg. And in the super luxurious region of far north Queensland, Palm Cove is the place to be.
Palm Cove is renowned for its post-card perfect scenery, featuring white sands, azure waters and palm tree lined streets. When you’re not making the most of the breathtakingly beautiful natural environment, there’s plenty to explore in the local towns. Go for a treatment at one of the serene local spas or simply chill out poolside at your luxurious hotel.
Do you struggle to find the perfect person to share your dream romantic Valentine’s Day with? Online dating is a great solution that has helped countless people to discover love. Relationship sites such as www.eharmony.com.au specialise in bringing together like-minded singles who enjoy the same romantic getaways, whether it’s a stroll through Paris or an Italian beachside retreat.

Your Paris suggestion sounds perfect. We’re going to get a break from the kids early March, so maybe we’ll pretend to be tourists.
@Jennie, that will be so nice, I know you don’t often get the opportunity!
For me Buenos Aires!
We’re headed to the Caymans Tuesday though!!!
Despite being a massive bag humbug when it comes I Valentines Day, I’m glad to see Bath on there – one of my favourite places in the UK! X
Great selection for romantic places here! My whole family will be traveling to UK by end of the month and Bath is one in our list to go. Great share!
I’ve always wanted to go to Positano. I hear it’s so beautiful!
Great post! If we had the time, I’d head back to Bath with my husband for more exploring. Thank you for using my photo!
Paris has plenty of reasons for turned up a cliche, right?
But Maldives would be perfect for me too.
@Renata, yes Paris is cliche but universal. Every time I see photos of Maldives I say to myself that I definitely want to get there!
@Margaret, my pleasure it was a good one and inspired me to want to see more!
@Abby, it was so funny, I was putting this post together in the airport a guy sat next to me, saw the photo and said Positano without knowing that it was actually Positano! I am dying to get over to Italy again!
@Delia, it is an area that I am not too familiar with but the photos look stunning.
