Saturday Six #122

Saturday Six on Misadventures with AndiI continue to love putting together this series which gives me an opportunity to highlight bloggers/writers/chefs who are putting out content that appeals to me.  I hope that if you are a fan of Misadventures with Andi, that we might have some things in common and you’ll appreciate my Saturday Six picks as well :-)

[1] I know I have said it a million times, but I love connecting with new blogs! I followed the comment url to discover  Katie of Domestiphobia who writes with such humor.  Having read several posts now, I can tell you she has a talent for making you laugh while telling wonderful stories related to travel and food.  I am hooked.  Her post “consider our pants blown in a good way” an introduction and go check her out now!

[2] I have several trips coming up to the LA area for work in the next month and if I knew where Joy of Oh Joy! lived, I might seriously consider stalking her. If nothing else, I can seek out some of the great food spots from her list of top 20 LA bites or I’ll head on over to Parish for breakfast.  Joy’s photos of their fried chicken breakfast sandwich are pretty much haunting me ever since I say them!

[3] I discovered this post by Cheryl of 5 Second Rule called “honey glazed almond with candied black pepper” from Jennifer of Chez Loulou.  You might wonder why it isn’t in a Friday Food Foto post as it appears to be a recipe. But you would miss out on a nice lesson if you didn’t read it.  One that I sometimes forget.  In fact I forgot it this week when I spent time on the phone with an expert that basically made me feel like MWA sucked.  This post from Cheryl reminds me I don’t suck.  It reminded me to go back and read my post The Numbers Game and reaffirm what it taught me.  I define my own success, I control what what makes me happy and this community of friends and readers (= freaders) is freaking awesome!

[4] I admire Maggie of Eat Boutique‘s dedication to craft food.  She lives in an area of the country (New England) which is full of artisanal food crafters which she supports not only with her business online but also events like this beautiful evening at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.  Who wouldn’t enjoy the food in such a beautiful setting?

[5] I have written before about Paris’s beautiful passages and through Marie of Food Nouveau I discovered a new one I have yet to visit but will be checking out on a future trip, Le Passage de Grand Cerf.

[6] I was introduced to Oh Happy Day via Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland awhile back.  Jordan had moved from San Francisco to Paris for an extended stay and  I really enjoyed those posts.  The blog is so aesthetically pleasing, I love checking in on it.  She is back living in San Francisco and just completed a trip that I have thought about doing with Mr. Misadventures.  Seattle to San Francisco by train.  It looks like a great way to travel between two of my favorite cities and I really want to do this!

Bonus content

I am not a visually creative person which is why I admire people who are.  I am also not someone who is big on resolutions but I am super big on lists, which is why this 100 Resolutions sheet created by Sah-Rah appeals to me and maybe you will like it too!

Despite not having resolutions, there are things “I want to do” and sometimes I need reminders of what I have decided is important.  I am completely in love with this idea from Yes and Yes which takes your goals and makes then so beautiful you can’t possibly miss achieving them!

Looking for hot spots in travel for 2013?  The editors over at AFAR have a nice list to consider (personally I am going anywhere that Jen Murphy is heading with chefs!) or you might want to consider where some of the AFAR Ambassadors (including me) are heading.

That’s it for this week!

How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share? How do you discover new blogs?

  7. @Anna, I am not familiar so thanks for the recommendation!

  8. Terri Moore says:

Thanks for the links for these blogs… I checked out yes and yes and thought what a creative idea!

  9. Being a mother to eight – I have found the cooking on Pioneer Woman absolutely wonderful! My children have loved everything I have cooked and I have loved seeing what goes into it instead of just pulling it from a freezer package!! For me, linking to blogs all started with iHeart Organization by pure accident. From there I looked at her favorites, found one I loved and then looked at their favorites and so on!!

  10. Tara Gauthier says:

Those honey glazed almonds look delish! Must try making them as we love almonds, so making them more flavorful would be a great treat!
