(Not quite) Wordless Wednesday #178: Champagne at Carneros

Carmeros champagneAfter our lovely lunch at El Dorado Kitchen the #Trafalgar2012 group headed to Domaine Carneros a chateau in Napa where we toured the winery and tasted a variety sparkling wines. This was another highlight of Trafalgar’s Northern California guided vacation that I had the pleasure of sampling.

As a bonus I spotted Brian Solis. Anyone working in social media will understand the celebrity sighting, trust me, considering I was with a bunch of travel bloggers and journalists, I was the only one geeking out in my group!

A complete francophile, I enjoy seeing the connections between France and the wine country in Northern California.  It was evident in many of the places we visited where I spotted barrels and other wine-making apparatuses like this wooden racks used to “riddle” or turn the bottles which constitutes part of the methode champenoise in France which came about by monks who had pushed desk up together to make the process less labor intensive.

Whatever their methods, I enjoy the final product!

Disclosure: I was a guest of Trafalgar for a tour in San Francisco and Napa. I was not required to write this post, nor am I being compensated for doing so. All opinions are 100% my own.
