(Not quite) Wordless Wednesday #176: Haight-Ashbury Retro Sign

Haight-Ashbury Retro Sign

I am a big fan of retro signs, which luckily you can still find in abundance in San Francisco.  This one I spotted as I exited the restaurant where I began my afternoon with the Trafalgar team in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood.

I did a little research on John Murio’s [Trophy Room] and it turns out its known as the meanest bar in San Francisco, I am not sure what it had to do to earn that reputation, but the sign looks harmless enough!

I can tell you (and will tell you) my experience in the Haight was not mean at all!

  2. @Helene, do you have retro signs in your neck of the woods?

  3. Very cool sign!

  4. That sign should be classified as art. Thanks for linking up with my WW. Hope you see you again next week!

  5. It has a swizzle stick! My mom recalled these type of neon signs to me recently with great affection. With memories of my dad. I hope I can take one someday and frame it for her. xoxo

  6. I loved the Haight – it was my favorite part of San Fran!

  7. @Koren, what did you like best about the neighborhood?

  8. @Jen, think you would love all the signs in San Francisco, there are so many!

  9. Street art, cool hippie vibe, Jerry Garcia’s house, Amoeba music, knowing what cool things developed in the neighborhood over the years, funky coffee shops, Wasteland and other cool vintage shops….I could go on!

  10. @Koren, those all sound awesome, I didn’t get to actual shopping and want to go back and peek in all the fun and funky shops.
