Saturday Six #118 on Sunday

Saturday Six on Misadventures with AndiIt’s been awhile, I know! Life seems to be getting in the way of my blog reading. Last week I was at a 4-day sales and marketing meeting where breakfast started at 7:30 and I fell into bed each night after 11 (or later) this included last Saturday too. This week was catch up from last week, plus I am participating in trip to the wine country sandwiched between my wedding anniversary!  All fun stuff, but it has cramped my blog reading for the past couple of weeks.

And I have new blogs to read thanks to all the wonderful new bloggers who comment on my SITS featured blogger post.  I was so excited to be features, took two years but it was a great day!  I love meeting new peeps in the blogosphere and I especially love showcasing selections on a weekly basis in this Saturday Six series, so here are some highlights from the last two weeks.

[1] Fall is my favorite time in Paris.  It is absolutely gorgeous, the food is amazing and the colors are spectacular. You need look no further than Carin Olsson’s post on Haven in Paris in which she showcases whey Paris is called the city of light.  I have been stalking Carin on Tumblr for a month or so, her photos are incredible.  Unfortunately she isn’t on Twitter so I haven’t shared them as often as I’d like.  Every photo she takes makes me miss Paris that much more.

[2] If for nothing else but for its wonderful chocolate chaud (hot chocolate) which I would drink all day long if it wouldn’t make me 500 pounds!  They say that Belguim has the best chocolate, and that may be true for light, but I still think France is the best when it comes to dark chocolate.  And chocolate geniuses in  general, like Jacques Genin.  I have read about him in Amy Thomas’s Paris, My Sweet and on David Lebovitz’s blog as well.  But I really love the recent post (and photos) about him on Eat Boutique. (By the way there is still a chance to win an Eat Boutique gift basket if you would like to enter AND pal Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland has one too! Double the chances to win!)

[3] Lindsey also has the previous mentioned Amy’s guest post on tips for a rainy day in Paris.  Something that definitely comes in handy in the autumn.  Don’t forget there are also the wonderful passages which are great for inclement weather.

[4] All this talk about chocolate, it’s important to understand the controversy around fair trade. It is not just coffee, chocolate is a culprit too.  Make sure you know where your chocolate is sourced.  Read more in this great post from Jennifer James of JenX67.

[5] And then for a moment of romanticism, you can read about the couple that Jen stumbled upon while sourcing images on Flickr.  She found a beautiful homage of a couple in love for 45 years that will have you in tears.

[6] To dry off your tears and set you on the rest of your day with a giggle, here’s Ella’s (I mean Kristin of Camels & Chocolate) latest “guest-post”  Country Dog, Volume 13!  I love Ella’s spunk and she certainly does not have a boring life, fits right in with her parents who can’t seem to ever sit still!

That’s it for this week!

How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share? How do you discover new blogs?

  1. Posts like this are great for finding new blogs. I get a lot this way.

I certainly understand about being in the wprk conference. The intention is to explore the neighborhood, keep up on your regular activities, etc. but they have you there day and night. Ugh!

  2. @Carli, exactly, you don’t actually get to see the city you are in for the conference!

  3. I am still obsessing over the Eat box you sent me–the chocolate gingersnaps were the tastiest things ever, and I’m currently going to town on some caramel popcorn for lunch!

  4. Thanks so much for linking to me, Andi. You’re the most generous blogger I’ve ever known!

  5. amanda roach says:

thank you for the link to where the chocolate comes from.

  6. Huguette E. says:

I usually find great blogs by their giveaways, like I just found yours :)

  7. Christi-TX says:

My daughter took a summer college course to get another french credit. She sent back chocolate from Belguim, and France. I can’t say which I liked better because I think I inhaled it!

  8. Rebecca Sinclair says:

With all of the giveaways I’ve been entering recently, I’ve been introduced to so many new blogs! I love all that they have to offer besides the giveaways -. Great recipes, humorous posts, lots of informative info. I have certainly enjoyed reading your blog today as well!

  9. As always, Andi, thank you so much for your unbelievable support ! Now come back to Paris so we can restaurant hop!

  10. Thanks for including info about fair trade goods. We started trying to buy only fair trade chocolates and coffee a few years ago. As my husband said, “if we can’t afford fair trade, then we just can’t afford it.”

  11. All this talk about chocolate and France has me starving! So fun checking out some of the posts. I discover new blogs by heading over to SITS and keeping up with blogs that I enjoy. Usually those blogs will link to other blogs that share the same interests in different ways.

  12. Dorothy Boucher says:

i am very happy to be here and to read all your good stuff.. always remember to take 5 ; ) i have been looking around your pages and so many interesting things to read, so i will be busy,,heheh

  13. I like participating in blog hops to discover new blogs. :)

  14. michelle riebeek says:

Would love to see paris in the Fall! It’s my favorite time of year here. I don’t always think about what it’s like elsewhere!

  15. I love the Country Dog post! So funny to see everything from a different perspective.

  16. What a great blog post! I love posts like these, because it’s a great way to find new blogs to add to my feed reader.

  17. I agree, chocolate in France is the best. When I was in Paris I was a little hesitant to spend a lot of money on one chocolate or truffle but it was well worth it! I ended up bringing a few boxes home with me!

  18. rochelle johnson says:

thanks for the link on the chocolate

  19. @Huguette, I hope you come back for content after the giveaway ;-)

  20. @Christi, best chocolate in the world!

  21. @Rebecca, I hope you come back for more content after the giveaway.

  27. @Laura, Ella is hilarious!

  28. @Jenn, thanks I hope you found some good ones on this list!

  29. @Kristen, chocolate rarely makes it home with me!

  30. Suddenly I am really really wanting some chocolate.

  31. Thanks for the reminder about being careful where your food is sourced – all too important but easily overlooked!
It’s funny that the French our generally skinny but any American I know who has stayed there for any length of time gains weight?! Oh well, I’d take a couple extra pounds for a French vacation at the moment!

  32. Hannah Mwanthi says:

i would love to try some French Dark chocolate (dark chocolate has always been my favorite!).

  33. Samantha Meyer says:

Yum! I love chocolate. This is a fun list, thank you for sharing it. I would like to take some time to figure out where my food is being sourced at, but I never thought about it before now. Thank you!

  34. @Samantha, glad you enjoyed it!

  35. @Sandy, it is the moderation thing. I moved over there and gained 20 pounds because I was eating everything in sight! As soon as I realized the food wasn’t going anywhere I went back down to my normal weight!
