J'adore #35 Map (and city) Edition

JAdore-Misadventures-with-AndiMy process for the J’adore series is pretty simple.  While I am traveling around the internet I see cute things, fun things, yummy things and copy the url into a draft post.  Then when I feel like I have enough items to warrant a post, viola…J’adore.

But last week while looking at my draft I noticed a few trends in the items I had selected and decided to do a few themed posts during the next couple of weeks as many of my finds centered around one theme or another.

So for this edition it is all about maps and cities and is dedicated to Kristin of Camels & Chocolate who is a big fan of maps…and camels…and chocolate!

While I am a fan of the San Francisco dim sum restaurant photos, I also think this California map wood cut out from Supermarket is adorable! I can certainly think of a few other places (states and countries that would make great cut outs).

Supermarket California Map Cut OutThese maps from Cartoloji are very abstract but really interesting. I like the France and Paris ones but there are so many to choose from including this one for the San Francisco Bay Area (you can do custom ones too!):

Less abstract but still a lot of fun is this US map from You and Me and the Royal We. I like the colors and font used in the states.

Not quite a map, but map related are these gorgeous city skyline posters from Bird Avenue.  There are plenty to choose from all over the country and the world. I love Paris one of course, but think the San Francisco one is pretty cool too. (Andi P., there is a Buenos Aires one too!)

San-Francisco-SkylineIf you like to wear your maps here is a cute map/compass necklace from Sora Designs.  This one has San Francisco on it.

Or carry your map around in your purse or back pocket with these fun Taxi wallets from Alicia Klein (love the Paris one too!).

I don’t have much art in my house, but I think these drawings of the San Francisco Chinatown would brighten up any room. Sketch Away has prints from several cities in California with varied subject matters from farmer’s markets to beaches.

SF_ChinatownLastly, I am a fan of journals even if I rarely use them these days (although I always have a moleskin with me).  This one from KOCO Journal with world clocks is really cute and appeals to the traveler in me!

KOCO-Journal-World-ClocksThat’s it for this edition of J’adore, a few my my recent favorite finds as I travel the web!

How about you? What are you currently adoring?

  1. Your idea to collect interesting posts and wite an article about is amazing! I love it as well as this post. The pics are pretty nice and I like the one3 of the Japanes sketches! So cute!

  2. OMG love love love!!!!!!!! You’re such a sweetheart for keeping your eyes open for me! :)

  3. @AndiP, but of course!

  4. Ahh I love that San Francisco one. Even though I left the city with a bad taste in my mouth, I might have to purchase that for our new (*fingers crossed*) home! We have about 30-ish globes now and several vintage maps from Sicily, the Arctic, etc. for the walls, but I really want some more Art Deco-inspired maps and travel posters for the new (again, *fingers crossed*!) house.

  5. @Kristin, fingers are crossed!

  6. It’s not quite the same type of cartography but I think you’d like Bedrock Images http://www.bedrockimages.com/ :)

  7. @Lindsey, your right, I do love them!

  8. I love the Chinatown prints. They’re wonderful. So many fun things. I checked out the OKC skyline print. It’s missing our new skyscraper – just completed a few months ago. It’s our first!

  9. @Jen, that is so interesting! We need to tell the artist!

  10. As usual cool, cool stuff. I would probably be able to find a place to hang any of those maps in my house.

  11. @Jennie, glad to hear!
