I don’t remember this week. It seems strange to me, but in all honesty that is the most accurate way to describe it. And as I look back on other recent Saturday Six posts, it seems like I am saying that a lot. This year has gone by so fast and I am not all that sure I really appreciated it for all the wonderful experiences that it has brought me. As October nears its end (already) and the year-end approaches I feel like it might be time to start reflecting on 2011 to savor the days of my favorite season before it slips away.
One thing I am trying to forget is the series of earthquakes we had this week with epicenters in Berkeley. There have been several, but one on Thursday evening really shook me up (sorry I had to go there….) it felt like someone pick-up the house gave it a good shake and dropped it down, as opposed to setting it down gently. It was a matter of seconds, but it was long enough for me to remember what the “big” one felt like in October 1989 and I don’t like it.
I don’t want to think about it (I am an expert at avoiding uncomfortable subjects) so let’s look at something more fun, like this week’s picks!
On the top of my food bucket list is French Laundry. I know it might be deeply disappointing because I have it on a rather high pedestal, but I am not giving up on wanting to try it. Mr. Misadventures and I are planning to do it next year for a big anniversary and despite the fact I am speaking about 2012, I cannot wait. That’s why whenever someone blogs about eating there I am riveted! Adam of A Life Worth Eating provided a double-whammy this week with two posts on the topic: a revisit and a new review.
More food! Thanks to Flourish I found this blog: Spoon Fork Bacon and I am in love. I am not sure what I love more, their pumpkin risotto with seared scallops or the s’mores cupcakes..quick someone make both and invite me over!
My pal Carolyn at Food Gal loves See’s Candies and I do too! My mom could make a mean Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie (I used to sneak frozen chocolate chips from the Nestle Tollhouse bags she kept in the freezer all the time!) and See’s Candies is a big thing in my family, so I know any cookie she made with the new See’s Chocolate Chips would be to die for!
When I am looking for a good laugh I turn to Wendi Aarons, period. She is a smart and witty writer and her posts always make me laugh. You have to read her post this week titled: “Why my husband’s not talking to me,” it is hilarious!
Ah love. Do you ever get sick of reading about it, talking about it, watching it on TV and the big screen? I don’t! I am a romantic at heart. I have to say thanks to Deviled Megs for sharing this incredible story about the power of love.
A couple of posts on blogging. Dear Crissy wrote about the fate of the About Me page on blogs - are blogger bio pages becoming extinct? I think they might be and it makes me sad. And Jen of Memoirs of a Dutiful X’er wonders if content is still king or if maybe Relationships might be making a run for the throne? I think content is still king. I love the relationships I have built via blogging, but what it comes down to it, I don’t read you if you don’t have good content (followed by good design).
How about you? I would love to know what you thing about the topics of the About Me page and Content vs. Relationships in blogging.
