Hello everyone! Squeezing in blog reading between my travel and work schedule is getting harder and harder, but I am determined to continue this series as I love reading, discovering new blogs and supporting the blogging community.
This little corner of the blogospere is an integral part of my sanity, as my creative and social outlet, it would be likely cutting off an appendage if I couldn’t come here. I have a ton of blog posts to write and I am feeling all itchy since I can’t seem to find the time to get them “down on paper.”
But that has stopped many of you! There were SO many posts to choose from this week.
Blogging gives you a voice. Bu we must remember that not everyone is given an equal opportunity to express their voice. I remember being naively surprised to not be able to reach my blog when I arrived in Beijing last December. It was an ah-hah moment. for me. Of course I knew that Facebook and Twitter were blocked and I must have known that meant blogs too, but I just didn’t realize, realize it until “I” couldn’t do it. Jennie of A Lady in France wrote a beautiful post to remind us just how lucky we are.
You can’t want to travel every where. And despite wanting to see the four corners of the world and having visited 31 countries, there are some places that do not call as strongly. Some of those places include the Middle East and Africa. Part of it has to do with the fact that I abhor the heat and those countries are usually very, very hot. But sometimes the experiences of others can be quite persuasive. Kristin of Camels & Chocolate’s post on “sleeping like a sheikh in Morocco” has convinced me that I must go there. Mr. Misadventures wants to go to Egypt and I think that if we do that trip we must include a stop in Marrakesh.
I will never write a guide on nightlife in any city, let alone Paris. You see I am not a partier, or a night person for that matter, and I have never been. And for some reason that has made me feel uncool. That I will never be part of the cool kids club. But you know what? Us non-partiers can have our own cool kid club! I think the President should be Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland, who I think is so very cool, and who turns out to be even more like me than I knew! In her “Friday Night in Paris” post she explains her perfect night out and it is pretty close to heaven to me as well.
There are all kinds of dining options in Paris, from street carts (or shopping carts if you are eating roasted chestnuts!) to fine, fine dining, but some of my favorite and more memorable meals have been in brasseries or bistros. The team at Parisien Salon have put together a great post on dining in these types of establishments, be sure to check it out!
For an entirely different kind of guide check in with the ladies over at Haven in Paris! No question that the French compete with the Italians for being the biggest flirts and their post on flirting and seduction will share some of their secrets….sshh!
This one is a total cheat. I am combining 3 food related posts into one entry (my blog, my rules!). I have never wanted to live in L.A. but I have a serious blog crush on Oh Joy! I love food trucks and I have so many to check out in the San Francisco Bay Area. But I know who I would want as my guide if I started check out some down south. Take a look at Joy’s food truck adventures in Los Feliz. I also love this artist she shared with her readers, she does absolutely gorgeous things with plates and food, I guess she doesn’t care about the “don’t play with your food” rule! On to more food. I love salted caramel and dark chocolate, I can’t wait until the next time I am in Paris to try Lindsey & Chloe’s Lola’s Cookies salted caramel blondies! I’ve seen salted caramel cupcakes, but I have not seen a cake, until now and this one on Annie’s Eats blog looks delectable!
A little bit of housekeeping:
- Don’t forget that Any Trip is giving away a trip for two to Paris!
- I still have an iPad2 giveaway going on, it ends on September 28th so don’t forget to check it out.
- Doing a colored Nook as well, that one goes to October 4th, but don’t wait too long!
That it’s for this week!
How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share?
