On the theme of change (for NaBloPoMo)
For Christmas, my husband and I flew Virgin America between San Francisco and LAX before we caught our international flight. This is not the first time I have flown VA and I love all things Richard Branson. As someone in the field of marketing I can highly appreciate the fantastic branding that they have done. They are the tip of the sword, something for all companies to aspire to.
But there is one thing that always strikes me when I watch their safety video, which by the way, is hilarious.
As they talk about the loss in air pressure, and go through the dialog regarding the oxygen masks, they show the women taking the mask, putting it on then breathing normally, per the instructions, but if you ask me she takes her time with that breathing before helping her son sitting next to her – in fact, it looks like his eyes are bugging out from lack of air!!!
So just a little suggested change, maybe they can edit the video to make the boy less bug-eyed, or is it just me??

It’s just YOU! The FAA rules are put your mask on before assisting other people.
Yeah, I get that. It is just the amount of time she takes before helping her child seems a bit too long, and I think the kid could look less bug-eyed, like he is gasping for air :-0
i agree – as a mom i have to say that on reviewing the video again i find that the virgin mom takes three big breaths before contemplating a mask for her child and there’s no way i could sit there breathing calmly for that long before putting his mask on!
i love this video though – the best airline safety video ever… however, since we’re questioning it… where’s the dad? why doesn’t he put the mask on the son? what – the dads are just hanging out drinking martinis? where are the dads?
