Veteran's Day Post

I may not believe in the wars that we are currently fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I support our troops.

My father was in Vietnam when I was born. He served two tours there. My dad was in the Army for 30 years. I do not all the things my Dad did during those 30 years, but I know he served his country proudly and honorably. So I salute him on this day of veterans.

I sometimes ask my husband why he loves the United States. Depending on his mood or the context of our conversation, the answer can be varied, but one thing he never fails to mention is that the American soldiers of WWII gave their life to fight for his country (France) and he will never forget that. That era and those soldiers hold a special significance to my husband, my mother-in-law and for my husband’s grandfather whom I never got the chance to meet. I believe with the election of our new President we can be that country again.

To all the soldiers who have fought or who are currently fighting, be safe wherever you are in the world.

The moon gives you light, And the bugles and the drums give you music, And my heart, O my soldiers, my veterans, My heart gives you love.
– Walt Whitman
